Difficulty With Webs

I have been recently spending some time as a gorge, and have found it really very easy to play, as opposed to some of the more difficult classes, with one exception: how do I web? I have asked a few people, spend some serious time playing around, and have had the occasional web success, but not nearly as many as I would hope. How does it work?

I was told that to web, you need to fire at a wall, then fire at a wall opposite the wall you just shot, in an alternating pattern. Now, a few questions: how many shots does it take to establish a web? how far away can you make webs from? does it matter how close to the walls you are? how far can a web stretch? can you web while moving? does web have a 100% success rate (assuming you know what you are doing?

Thanks for any help you can provide, the ns learning curve has been really nice so far, with the exception of how to web, and flying ( I mean, I know HOW to fly, but I can't hit anything while airborne very well, and I am sure that the skill is a lot more useful once you learn how to use it well.) As for the web though, for some reason I just can't seem to reliably spin a web, and when I am on the move, my success rate drops to about zero. Thanks in advance for any tips on using this oh so important ability (given that it's free, and gorges spend substantial amounts of time doing nothing until they can afford to build a hive.)

First off, you only need 2 shots to web your first strand, and this is how.

Switch to your web, and shoot at a wall. Next shoot at a wall oposite and sort of close to your first shot. This will create on strand, and u can keep shoting and more and more web will come out untill you have reached the maxium ammount for your team. Yes, it does have a high success rate if a newbie marine lands on it, or someone isnt paying attention. But if they are they can just weld it away.

I think the best way to place webs is to build them RIGHT next to the floor. Marine never see 'em until its too late =). It has a 100% success rate when you know what you're doing, and webs are limited by the amount in one area of the map, not by a team limit, FYI.

I find a 'spray and pray' tactic for webbing small hallways is effective. Start at the floor and work up, waving your snout from wall to wall.

I've also managed to put a 'spider web' type structure up by standing in a corner and spinning while holding the fire button on webs. Oh boy was that fun to watch when four marines walked into it, and went "WTF?!" as the turrets I had set up around the same corner proceeded to kill them. All.

actually there is a team limit that co-exists with the "area of map limit"

I remember running around once as a gorge. A marine spotted me and started shooting at me. Injured but not killed, i hid in a vent pipe. At the 90 degrees corner i made some webs. And LOL. He came quietly, snap! killed him with 6 spits... He went "WTF".

That was a pretty cool experience.

hmm, for some reason i shoot at one wall..then the other..then i press my flashlight key (it shows webs too) but their not on it 80% of the time..so i think for some reason its not making them?

I just think thats a bug cause I've noticed that about 2-3 min after you place the "invisible" webs they will appear.

You can also place them on flat surfaces, firing at two points on the same wall/floor, making a sticky area.

As far as I know, there isn't a timer that removes them after a bit of time. But Flayra may have changed that in the last patch.
