Any comments?

I for one I am glad to meet Flay a second time, and playing on the stage was cool.

Also all of the NS players I met were pretty cool to meet in person.

i'm sorry but is anyone else here lol'ing at that update...first off only 8 people showed up so i find it unlikely that there was ANY match, much less "finals between cri and TAU"...tau doesn't even play ns anymore as a team and neither team would have been able to field a 6 man roster anyways...i'm all for supporting the community but making it sound like a grand event when it was a random group of kids is kind of misleading in my opinion

    :o

Looking at the layout, screens, big names, etc., it seems like a grand event as far as I am concerned. Massive plasma screens! /me drewls in a geek-like moment.

I dont care if in reality only 8 ppl were there; it looks fun, it was NS realted, and Flayra and Forlorn were there. (As well as the others of course.)

I'd like to say congrats to all that attended, I'm sorry I couldn't have been there and meet you all in person... Maybe the next one.

Seeing NS being played on the plasmas was VERY cool...

I hope this is just the start of seeing NS at events like this... it just takes a ripple to start a wave....

GG to all who were there and Flayra for making the trip just after a huge move...

the front page isn't exactly accurate, "team TAU" 2-0 "team Cri" because forlorn was comming for cri. since there were only ten people there, it was more of a pug game then anything...

You silly noob, the noobies (like Angel Munoz) at the CPL wouldn't realize that we played NS with noobs, the whole point was to introduce NS to noobies and get it up on stage and fool noobies like yourself.

Kinda sorta yeah, but the thing is TAU had like... 20 or so members at the CPL, and they have an official team for NS... and solar curve is the leader of TAU and simply told some of his members to play NS or they'd be cut, so there were no problems

    k sure

I went around asking like 100 or so people at the CPL if they would DL NS and play it.

I got about 50 of them to install, and about 25 of them to play it.

    Not too bad tbh.

I think even SK installed NS and so did CoL as well. But I didn't see them play NS.

I basically went around to people at the CPL that were NOT in game, they were just web broswing or doing whatever on their desktop.

    Target Audience: Desktop dudes

Next, I asked them if they had ever heard of Natural-Selection.

They could either say 'Yes' or 'No', but the next response from me was always the same:

    "Wanna play it with us?"

I got like 30% flat out 'No' objections. But most of them were like "I don't have it installed"' or "I don't know how to play it." or "I don't like it". If they said they didn't like it, I just left them immediately with a few nice words.

To those who said yes, I told them we had a dedicated server up and running and to meet me in game.

To those who give me an objection, if they said "I don't have it installed." it was cool, because it was a LAN center... so we had porcha host the files off of his box. Of coruse, to play NS right now you need to install 3 files, one after the other, beta 1, beta 4, then beta 4a.

So we had pnuematiccrab compile all of the betas into one giant exe, which ran all 3 of them no problem.

Some people said "I don't have the time right now." To that I said, "Oh that's cool, you can just install it now and play with us later!"

And most people who heard that were like "Uh fine..." and they'd just run one file and it was all done and clear. Very easy, and painless.

Since my part time job right now is basically being a salesman, I know how to answer objections pretty damn good and convice people to try stuff out.

Anyhow, reactions to NS was this:

    - Some people loved it

    - Some people hated it

    - Some were not interested

But all in all, by far, the large majority just did not know of what NS is.

I remember standing in line to get into the CPL on the first day, and talking to about 10 different people, asking each individually if they knew what NS was. Basically I'd introduce myself, ask them what team/game they were there for, and I'd be like "I'm a pro NS player, team #cri."

    "NS? What's that?"

    "Natural-Selection... a FPS/RTS hybrid of sorts"

One guy I remember, the conversation went like this:

"Hi, what game you here for?"

"Counter-Strike. What are you here for?"

    "Natural-Selection..."

"Why the hell would you come to the CPL for biology reasons?"

That's when it occured to me the game I play is just really, really, lacking in the publicity department.

After attending the CPL, I realized the #1 problem of NS is not balance, graphics, maps, gameplay, clanplay, pubplay, etc. etc.

But it's rather just publicity. People just have no freaking clue as to what NS is.

NS could be a lot more popular with more exposure, so I'm pretty excited as to what Steam can do for NS.

We need a new MonsE figure. Comprox tried, but his schedule knocked him out of the position too quickly for him to get anything big done. Judging by his actions at the CPL, I think Forlorn would be a pretty good candidate.

If you want people to accually become long term players I would suggest waiting on any publicity blitz until the game gets more balanced right now I can see alot of people getting fustrated with how inblanced the game is and just deciding they hate the game...

    Please beta 5....

The websites have already been pimped out with NS info... maybe a big dash for the release of 3.0? Hmm... maybe
