Its held perfectly, but Gordon is striking the alien with the sharp end, instead of the more blunt curved bit.

OH NO IT'S BACK FROM THE DEAD....

sorry, but this thread was just too cool!

I believe these are all from deviant art, I recently formatted and am trying to re-build my amazing image collection.

I really like art of images that are like the end of the world, I also like floating cities, and airships. Steampunk as well.

I'd almost forgotten about this thread. I know I've already posted 1 picture in here, but I have a 2nd. Unfortunately I can't think of anyone in their right mind who would host it in jpeg form for everyone to link to, so I'll have to give you a link to the zip and show a mere thumbnail here.

I must repeat again: the image in this post is a miniscule representation of the full-resolution goodness it links to. 56k users should be patient if they click the pic for the link to the zip file with the real image.

The pic in the zip that is linked above is the full resolution render of Shodan, the main evil AI construct of System Shock 2. The image was released by the artist who created it, Ryan Lesser. I recently had it printed out to poster size; due to the limitations of the banner-printing machine at the local print center, I had to resize the image down to be around 42"x64"

She's staring at me right now. Gotta love an evil crazy ***** for being so evil she creeps out people whether they're familiar with her or not. Not many characters like that. It's kinda like people booing Darth Vader on sight in Star Wars Episode 4 when all they've seen him do is walk through a busted doorway.

Thank you sooo much Marik. I still need to beat that game, but when I do, I think you just gave me a new poster for my dorm room.

Many of you are probably already familiar with this image. This H. R. Giger painting entitled "Necronomicon IV" and its successor were the inspiration for the Alien series.

Found this lurking the SA forums:

One person's comments went along the lines, "I didn't know Giger did ice sculpting."

This one's just for hilarity, but an amazing situation when you think about it; the people at that point were unaware of its midst.

If you ever tour the SA forums, look for a guy by the name of 'praxis' - He has access to a bunch of AP photos. I really liked this one, picture from:

these are links to some of the better pics from the POV-Ray hall of fame. a lot of them are taken from the work of Gilles Tran, the most freaking amazing povray artist ever... pov ray is a text-based ray tracer, fyi. for reference:

    Gilles Tran: http://www.oyonale.com/
    - great website in general, each of his pictures come with a short 4-5 paragraph mini story that ends abruptly. adds a lot to the art, and is are usually pretty interesting.

nothing too amazing about this, but i love psuedo-realistic 3d renders. very cool, to an extent.

Pretty much everything H.R. Giger has done is in some way sexually charged. Some of it probably wouldn't be considered appropriate to post on these boards. Here is a great gallery of high res images of HR Giger's art. Some of his more sexual stuff is under the category "Erotomechanics"

cam, Those renders rock. I can't help but wonder how many countless man hours the artist has to put in to making something like that.

Looking at Family reminded me a lot of the Modron home plane of Planescape: Torment...

Anyway, might as well post some extras...

These two pieces are initialed, but I can't tell who the authors are... any links to their website/gallery would be greatly appreciated:
