the _best_ clan is hard to define because usually trans-atlantic matches fall to that 100 ping difference between you and us.

Theres no best ns clan, the clan scene is on the iron lung. Same rehashes of the same old mediocre players.

    ya............

Exigent has been the best american team for the last 2 seasons. Coincidentally they are the only decent clan left. Euro's have never shown me anything to make me think they could take em.

The best clans to grace NS were probably eR, HAM, torment, exigent & ktdm in their respective time periods. However, none of them to my knowledge have played/proved themselves on LAN, so unlike Quake3 or CS you cannot credibly claim there was a "top NS clan" that was truely more skilled than the rest. Some of them had movies/clips and Google is your friend, but the likelihood is you will be lucky to find even demos of them at their peak. The last Beta update(s) havn't exactly done great things for the competitive scene meaning a lack of top-tier clans, hopefully 3.0 going final will remedy this.

Squishy - ktdm drew with exigent twice (both clans were at their peak during those games, very exciting to watch).

Well for america back in the early early days HAM ruled. Then when 2.0 rolled around eR was untouchable. then beginning 3.0 = the era of exigent. then this season, any clan that is still alive is among the top clans. well mostly cause theres none of them left.

    Oh yes sM > korea

and no one cares about the euros. So yeah.

Currently the best ns clan is exigent. If we are going by all time bests it would be tied between 3-5. sYn, Ham, Red (old one), and eve (altho for a very short time). I know theres one i'm forgetting but I dont have the time to find it, if you can find their demo's all the power to you. If you want to learn about how they play I would suggest scrimming them as opposed to watching demo's imo.

Also note I know little to nothing about clans not playing inside north america so you may want to ask somebody about that.

Europe: torment, BM, ktdm (really easy for Europe history, torment dominated the euro scene for-ever)

North America: sYn(1.00 to 1.04, the dominancy of sYn ended with their tie vs. HAM on tanith) , HAM-eR (tied really, HAM started better but eR took it in the long run), and now exi, who may be dying of member loss and inactivity.

Perhaps, at least the eclipse game was.

& maybe add Fek'lyrs to the European list.

NS is just boring nowadays, or maybe I've found something else to do to take my time, I dunno. I can barely play NS for a map without falling asleep on my keyboard. That's why I left exigent, it just got boring. I tried it once again with domination, and it was fun for a month or two, but just got really boring. Plus, with the removal of the veteran program, there just isn't anything to do in NS anymore.

Terror and Blackmarket look like they will be very good after getting more teamwork down by scrims and such.

Look for terror and blackmarket to clash with exigent and cri as the top 4 North American (or mostly N.A.) clans of this time. Chances are that two of those four will die before the end of next CAL season.

i predict that exigent and blackmarket clans would die due to Pandas coming back and having 3 pandas in blackmarqz, the pandas would quit and join pandas like they do when pandas come back.

but i will be wrong, i hope

Yeah, I was gonna say ReD, they were one of the best next to syn and their games were alot of fun to watch. (espiecially since the 1.04 lerk actually took ALOT of skill to use and ReD having one of the best lerks on their team at the time)

Someone needs to take demos from the top matches of 1.04 and 2.01 and make them into movies. It would give everyone a look into the past of NS. I know HAM had some on their site of their match vs. eve in the NSA invitational tourney.
  • UGLAndrewUGLAndrew Join Date: 2003-04-25 Member: 15823Members
    in 1.0

The top team was sYn, no one could beat them heh, hardly anyone could win a half, then [TE] Theory of Evolution tied them, and TE could always beat ReD, ReD only got decent near the mid of 1.03. then ReD and TE pretty much had the same skill levle so ReD/TE were probobly there at #2 with sYn at the top.

    in 2.0

HAM was the dominating team. eR imo was still second even if they won CAL.

    3.0

Exigent right now is probobly the top team, then (not considering the new clans) is probobly OSS then Terror or Terror then OSS (haven't heard any news about how they play against each other).

so yeah the top 3 teams of each version was

    1.0 - sYn
    2.0 - HAM
    3.0 - Exigent

(By the way this is just my personal opinion, so yeah <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
