How do i set up a shortcut to load ns +console?

I'm dazed and confused.....
I want to set up a shortcut to load NS with console. I've tried making the target "hl.exe +game nstr -dev -toconsole"
but it doesn't work. I wish to do this because it's quicker than loading the map from the multiplayer menu, also something goes whacko with HL when I use the multiplayer menu. Additionally, I can load the NSTR as a custom game but the console commands don't work and I get a msg "unknown command: Vmodenable". Any help would be appreciated.

Try this:

"hl.exe -dev -console +game nstr +map sample -maxplayers 32"

Never seen of this error before, my shortcut setup is very similar to what Flayra has (I only added -numericping , but thats just for showing the ping of servers, not the green dots). Maybe a more in depth description of what happens when you use your shortcut would help. If it just doesn't run, tell us, if it loads up and then crashes, etc

If all else fails, there is that lovely option called re-install Half-Life!

I had the same problem with NSTR2, but not with the original. Never did fix it, any map I made had to be started through LAN games. Id be very grateful for any help.

not sure if it helps, but there is a -toconsole command that works also
aka. hl.exe -console -toconsole
would load up HL and take it directly to the console...

u might need to edit ur
config.cfg and turn console on using that
look for a program called HLDS toolz, it has a cfg editor in it

I tried editing my console, but to no avail. Ive used that toconsole, but it just brings up the console without a prompt, so you cant use it :/

Oh well, must be a sign mappings not for me

-dev -console -game nstr is the correct console command.

If your still having trouble, try this:

Click "Start" then choose "Run"
Then click browse and find your hl.exe

Mine is located under my D drive. If I were to click on it, it would look like this:
D:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe

Then at the end, type the above commands. If I were to use mine, it would look like this:
D:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -dev -console -game nstr

then click "Ok"

it should load nstr.

Hmm, odd, it works fine for me... Must be something with configuration of you're Nstr2, or maybe it's you're computer... Wait a bit, blaming the computer was lame, lol
