Going Back To The Basics...

<div class="IPBDescription">Simple drawing from photo</div> Just trying to keep myself occupied during the summer. I've decided to take a step back from drawing my own stuff, which I feel has been a bit like jumping the gun, to just focus on drawing still life/photos. Also feels good to continue my very lowly portfolio.

Too long... worked at a erratic pace, with plenty of procrastination in between. Under 5 hours maybe? I'll try to keep track next time... I am trying to improve on speed.

    GG, dude. G.F.G.

Edit: Anyways, now that I've recovered from shock, the drawing is very good. I probably don't need to point this out, but it looks sorta like one of the eyes is off a wee wee wee bit, keeping it from being perfect. And now that I look at it again, your nose looks a little flat compared to the picture's nose. Other than that...Flawless. The only thing I would change is make the rings under her eyes darker, but that's it.

Holy CRAP those tutorials are too advanced for me... but thanks a whole bunch. At least they seem a hell lot simpler than the tutorials I've skimmed through (when I get the time, I plan to take a look at some stuff put out by Hogarth and Loomis). I've just been impatient looking at all these tutorials without actually using my hands lately, so I thought I might as well put them to work for a change.

And yeah, I tend to get real lazy on the shading... I'll try to concentrate on it a bit more as I work on my second piece.

    Thanks for the info!

    - Just wondering... it's not absolutely necessary that I work with a variety of different lead pencils, right? It'll obviously be more Spartan, but a good ol' HB should be able to do the trick, no?

I didn't space the distance between the gun and head correctly.

I must now commit seppuku, then after my entrails have regenerated in place, focus my teachings on Andrew Loomis.
