Wilfred Owen

Dulce Et Decorum Est

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of disappointed shells that dropped behind.

GAS! Gas! Quick, boys!-- An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And floundering like a man in fire or lime.--
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,--
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

Be careful, and the best of luck to you. I just hope you know what you are getting into.

Heh. Of course "dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" is a lie. As a wise man once said "The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his."

Royal Marines

They're Nasty. Lets just put it this way, you'd need to be mildly insane to join them.

And the SA-80 isn't bad now, one they found that it was incorrect cleaning practices that were causing it to jam (It has been well documented that an SA-80 can be submerged in sand and still fire) and the latest revisions make it better.

(That and I wouldn't trust an M16, apparently there are also a fair few things wrong with them )

I, personally, think that the Navy Seals are the most elite group.

heehee try the South Korean 707th Special Missions Battalion.

They are hand picked from the nations other various special forces.

Like the "special" special forces.

They are primarily South Korea's counter terror group however they are also fully qualified and carry out commando type missions during war time with regular army units.

They condition and train on a regular basis in cold weather similar to the US navy SEALS hell week.

They are generously funded and trained by the government and they even have their own 747 to practice operations on.

They also train and use female operators as well. "Think the black messa black ops

If we're going by elite groups I'm sorry but the SEAL's don't cut it against the SAS/SBS.

Those are some elite people.....

Are you kidding? They bought that 747 with money gained by the fantastic acrobatics they do for the public and movies in between operations

let's not argue here, fellas. no one man has been in the SEALS, USMC Recon / Sniper, and the SAS long enough to figure out which one is most awesome. they're all plenty damn good, but they do all sorts of different sh*t. FFS, recon and seals do a lot of the same training and sometimes their instructors cross-train.

and marine SNIPERS.. well.. sheeit, let's not even go there. all i'll say about that is "a dime at a grand".. hehe

and the SK 707th SMB.. i don't know a god damn thing about them. what was their last successful mission?

eep!

The 707th provided security for VIPs and for key facilities during the 1986 Asian Games and during the 1988 Olympics. At both events terrorist attacks were considered to be a real danger. In addition, the unit has reportedly seen extensive action against North Korean infiltraters, and according to several unconfirmed reports, they have also conducted multiple operations on the North Korean mainland.

Many people may not know but The two Koreas are still technically at war with each other. They only have a semi working cease fire. I say semi because over the past several decades,

it is a fact that North Korea has been sending in their own commando units and small naval vessels over the borders to infiltrate and spy on the south.

You can read about these episodes from time to time when they make the world news. Usualy when the north screws up and their people get killed or caught in the act by the south.
And many reports state that the 707th has carried out many counter operations against these North korean inifiltration teams.
