    2. This seems like the same version I PTed a month or so ago. Still looks like it takes about 10 seconds to get from MS to engine hive, and about five from MS to double.     the rotating door was the only thing that MAYBE KINDA gave aliens an advantage @ engine, if they put a couple OCs there they would have to go the other way. and since marines get double almost EVERY game.

    Yeah, I'm going to do something, but I didn't say when, and that's definatly not for Beta 5.

    I have other projects and lots of other things to do...

    Uhm anyway... The revolving door, although annoying, I never had any problem with it...

    The crouching onos hallway was quite annoying so good job in fixing that. The only thing which botheres me about this map layout is the engine hive has to do with the following tactic if the aliens start in feed or ref
    If the rines split up and take the double res and the engine hive, which seems is very close to the MS due to the lack of the bottleneck "the evil rotating door". It looks like that the rines have a big advantage that way. Still playtesting the map should be the deciding factor on this, to see if I'm right <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Mendasp, try not to see map feedback as insults and react like that. You must realise loads of NS players will hate what you have done and others will love it.

    I see insults as insults, and feedback as feedback.

    Windelkron didn't like the changes, and he didn't say "OMG BAST SUX U KILLED TEH MAP", he even proposed how to fix that. That's feedback.

    Then, we read things like "Omg, t3h suxor,". Yeah, I read that and magically think on how to fix it... If that's not an insult, it isn't feedback, either.

    Also, well, I never wanted to give a harsh reply, in fact, I shouldn't have replied at all, but... well, I was tired of it...

    We got the old layout on ns right now, so why not have both? I like the new one but i dont wanna loose the old. Cant this one be named Bast2 or somthing. That way thier be less comflict with ppl saying they want the old one back..?

    I think that people here don't understand what goes into making a map that has a good layout coupled with decent gameplay. It's difficult as **** to make one like it, so the least you talentless people could do would be to show the remake team a little respect. Afterall, without them you wouldn't be playing bast AT ALL in this version.

    When i emailed relic for the first time i clearly said that there were gameplay issues with ns 3.0 that needed to be fixed and that was one of the aims we had. He never said that fixing these would be a problem and that is all we've done. He also said he'd send me the orginial lights.rad and his compile settings so we could get accurate lighting but he never did. I will talk with mendasp tonight to see what he thnks of contacting relic again to show him what we've done but i wonder if he'll even have NS on his PC anymore and if he does if he'll understand the reasons behind the changes, i doubt he will of played v3.

    The rotating door <u>was</u> a problem and i don't care what all you nostaliga freaks think, it freaking sucked like the rest of 1.04, stop jumping on the "i want 1.04 back ns 3.0 is **** flayra broke it" bandwagoon, jesus. It was a freaking deathtrap, not just because you're all grouped up and you come out into a firing range but the genius insta gib variety of standing in the wrong place too. I'm glad it's gone, i took pleasure in it's death, i wish i could delete some of you too.

    Secondly, i lost count of the number of times people told me that engine needed a second exit, then we add a second exit and some of you have the nerve to complain, thanks, you really encourage us to work on this project, i know you whinning bastards have already drove mendasp insane.

    Amckern, shut the hell up.

    The rest of you, thank you for your support, if only the rest of community was as helpful and thoughtful as you, unfortunately as is always the case the minority ruin it for all and the entire debacle of us trying to fix it and then having some whinny bastard tell us how we raped bast has put me and mendasp off making any further changes we feel are nesscary to turn this into a good map, thank you.

    My god all you people that think bast is making changes for the worst just shut up. When maps go under huge changes like this it's kinda like a new map and everyone likes to try it out and it gives the map a cool new feeling. I couldn't stand the old bast with the revolving door which to me was just a big annoying alien camp spot.

    Come to think of it, is there actually any point in removing the rotating door, if MS now has two good entrances. Unless you are that desperate to remove entities.

    Another thing, someone should make a completely new Bast2 hopefully with the same look and quality as Bast. Set on the same ship/station, maybe it could a have one or two locations in common, but everywhere else would be completely new.

    I dont like the changes.. I understand them, but do not like how things were redone.

    -The entrance in the back of engine looks really really awkward, should try and make it fit in more.

    -I'm one of the ppl that loved the rotating door, I honestly would have kept it and tryed to work around it, with it. Instead of just saying garbage.

    -The new path from ms to engine looks a lot shorter than the path to refinery, it seems like you can get there quicker now that u were before.

    -You still have the problem of rinestart -> atmos -> feedwater. I think a path from outside feed where the pipes are, over to where the rotating door was, or somewhere in that direction. So there is an alternative path from dbl than feedwater.

    -Now you got a base to work off of, I think u guys should just keep goin and make it all try to fit in properly. Its not the changes ppl dont like, its how you implemented them.

    -Its also the job of the mapper to make a fun, interesting map. Most ppl would rather have that over those that supposedly play perfectly.

    the new layout looks a lot better. the movement of engine provides better connectivity to ref and gives aliens more access to the engine hive. the new engine entrances might be a little tight it seems. i would have to play it first though. glad to see the rotating door is gone - it was for the best. hl engine rotating stuff is horrible. the new exits of the MS look good - hopefully they aren't too open. feedwater could be a little darker, still seems bright.

    edit: make sure that aft isn't an obvious seige spot for engine as well <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    yes... i used to love it, back in 2.0. but then, after getting past the newbie stage, and starting to actually THINK, i started hating it. but, i guess we all are either lovers or haters. some day, hopefully, you too will realise that removing it was for the best.

    yes thats it kill all of the good ns maps, bast sucks in 4a and most of the other ones do also should have left them alone like they were in 2.0 and 1.0 btw the beta 5 bast really sux a ramp where the elevator used to be ?! wow i see an onos rush like 5 mins after the maps start. heh i think ill decompile the old bast and make a true original and not all hacked up like this one. probably just fix the onos duck things. i guess ill start working on it as soon as i finish my part in the ns_fenris map.

    While the last post needs a little more diplomacy, I do agree that the ramp entrance to MS may be a little too "Onos-friendly". I like the look of the changes, though. Helluva job. I'm sure playtesting will reveal if the MS entrance is a real concern, though.

    Edit2: I was going to release an ns_bast_classic with some bugfixes (in fact, I have the rmf done long time ago...), like that button on engine or some clipping errors, but since you seem to going to do that already...
