Find Me Some Good Final Fantasy Music...

bah. With so many Final Fantasy fanboys out there going "omg ff7 am the best!" "no ff7 sux0red ff10 am the best!" "WTH r u thinking ff2 am the best!" etc, you'd think there would be some damned good remixes of some of the better FF songs on OC Remix. But I've yet to find any.

But from what I understand the music has been pretty similar across all the different games, so perhaps the remixes of songs I'm looking for could be found in FF1-6 or 8-9 or Tactics or something. The thing is there's like 150 of them, and I don't feel like downloading any of them...

In particular I'm looking for a really good version of the Battle Theme music (you know, the one that plays for regular enemy fights) and also for the fast pased escape type music (plays a lot in FF7, like when they are on the train and they are trying to escape).

So if you know of any good FF mixes, post a link to em here please. :)

Nope. None of 'em sound the same. At all. If you just want the music, there are people that recreate it and make 'em MIDIs at VGMusic.com. Otherwise- I don't know what you could do.

    Eww. MIDI. Eww.

And I know they sound similar, cause I've heard the same damn song in both FF7 and FF10. :P

I've got some old orchastrated stuff from back in the day that isn't terrible. Most of the OC remix stuff I personally find terrible.

    Only 2 songs transfer over:

The FF IV Main Title Music(basically a harp doing a odd scale)
Chocobo Theme (which is remixed every time you hear it)

Out there are two different live CDs of final fantasy, one by the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra, another by the Tokyo Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, i have the latter, and i must say, it is absolutely amazing to hear. They feature songs from all the final fantasy games (Up to X) in full orchestral goodness. I believe both are available from amazon, you need them.

Well, FF 10 did take some music directly from FF4 (Sacrilege!)

Well, don't expect to find many remixes that aren't in MIDI, because that's what they mainly work with :\

And one thing that ALWAYS doesn't change (except instrument) is the....
    Victory theme!

Heck I can even play it on my keyboard

nearly every remix is in mp3, because nearly every remix is compiled in either fruity loops, reason, or cubase, all of which compile most convieniantly too mp3. The originals are mostly in midi, because the SNES sound engine works really similar to a midi generator.

Or they're just reusing and revamping decent music. Hell, I'm pretty sure they've done it in the older games, too. (I think FFV and FFVII had some similar songs, though it's been a long time since I heard both soundtracks)

As for the remixes...I'll need to get back to you on that. I used to have TONS of them, but I lost all of them in a format.

You may be able to acquire music of Final Fantasies (any era) upon that site, though the format may be unsuitable for your tastes...

Personally, I think the best renditions of the final fantasy songs are from the piano collections. They are available for purchase from amazon, but some of them are in the $40 dollar range for the import.

I prefer to stick to the original OSTs; Crazy Motorcycle is a funky tune from FF7 that I'd recommend.

It's too bad you're looking for remixes, otherwise I would blatantly advertise Zophar's domain and Snesmusic.org.
    Oh whoops

(Although you need to download a plugin to be able to play the .spc files, its well worth it. Much better than crappy .mid files.)

If I remembered right, I heard the Cave theme from FF4 in Macalania Woods....

Could be coincidence though. After all, they have had Nobuo Uematsu for who knows how long.

But I really find it odd how the cave theme suddenly appeared in Macalania woods :o

As for Black Mages....they simply pwn. Plus, they have Dancing Mad on CD, w00t!

Hehe, I expect a lot of improvements ever since I heard the 2 previews of them.

BTW, I suspect that Nobuo is using a Casio CTK-738 because my keyboard also has the same kind of tunes it has in it

Yeah, try out a lot of stuff from Nobuo Uematsu. Also try a lot of the FF orchestrated tracks, I have some really good stuff your just going to have to find my on irc. I should be in #naturalselection if you want to try some tracks.
