Destroy them
My little sister (aged 14) wants me to take the vocals out of her thrice-damned "Team Rocket" song. How would I do this? I have no idea how to go about it, and Google hates me. Any ideas?

I thought the topic title was 'destroy the world'. Needless to say, I was sadly dissapointed

im a bit of an amature at somthing like that...

she wants an isolated vocal track, or everything but vocals?

I think its easier to remove just vocals, although both are pretty hard and need some kind of higher end software.

anyways, as I understand it, it involves finding the exact frequencey range the vocals occupy then killing that range, although, I may be making things up

She wants the people-sounds taken off the song, so that it's just the backing tune. If I have to pay out for it, then it's not going to happen; I was wondering if anyone knew any free software for it. Thanks for the quick responses, though.

theres a little stuff on google...

it cant be done, unless the vocal lie in the centre of the mixdown.
im assuming the teamrocket theme tune will have all kinds of crazy cuts left and right as its quite recent/ crazy/ probably well produced.

So chances are It wount happen, although theres a very slight chance you could striek lucky and have all the vocals dead centre.

anyway, youll need somthing like cool edit..

Highlight either the left or right only and 'phase invert' (sometimes called 'invert' or 'flip') only the one half.
This should cause the centre to be drastically reduced in volume.

if you need to reflip left for any reason without the middle returning...
just save as a mono file, then resplit into stereo, then reflip the channel you did earlier.

I think some programs do that for you, in the perspective of karaoke, but the results aren't satisfying enough.

Can't you just order her to want something else? She is your little sister.

Try Goldwave .

Here.

You may be able to do it, it all depends on what tracks vocals are recorded to.

You can get rid of the vocals with Goldwave pretty well, if you fine tune the filters you use. But don't expect clear-sounding tracks.

I believe there was a WinAMP program that removed vocals, it didn't always work though.

Snidely's little sister says: Elementary, my dear loser!

Bulba!

Bulbaaaaaa!

BULBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

*tears off scalp with rusty fork*

Bulba.

Snidely says: Thanks, Sirus. That's a big help. It doesn't need to be perfectly clear, the victims won't notice any drop in sound quality...they'll be too mesmerised by the weird, grotesque pokedance. And "James", apparently. Whoever he is.

Cheers, guys.
