Can't this forum go one day without becoming a bloodthirsty mob out for nerd revenge?

Ah, who am I kidding. I say we go with Inifintum's suggestion.

As a once [read: before the prequels] nerd-tacular Star Wars fan and computer game player (/me points at own avatar) I say the following:

You current Star Wars fans are lucky. Yes, the new Anakin(s) are even worse than Jar Jar. But
A) you now have lightsaber fights closer to what they should be, and
B) at least with these "screenshots" featuring new actors in the original trilogy, you have a chance that they might be made by a bunch of Trekkies with too much time on their hands.

Meanwhile, fans of the Fallout series have to deal with [continues ranting off to the side while everyone else stays on-topic]

I think Lucas has gone insane, irrepairably insane. There really is only one thing to do when someone has gone that rabidly insane, it's time to put them down.

OMG - I've seen that avatar for ages and today's the first time I ever actually figured out what it is!

The mark of the Emperor from TIE fighter - that game rocked so hard! I got to be the "emperors right hand" or something before I faced some impossible mission in a gunboat and stopped playing. I dont mind it when the fight is tough, but when you have to defend crappy victory class star destroyers that go over with a breath of wind it gets frustrating....
• AegeriAegeri Join Date: 2003-02-13 Member: 13486Members
I remember TIE fighter, that was one of the best games I had ever played hands down. I don't recall the gunboat mission though, but if I could last out for well past the dreadnought in Wing Commander 3 (on the losing path, those who have played it will know) in an Arrow fighter, I can't imagine it being that nuts.

Maybe we should create a thread and **** about how old great games will never be repeated again (on the same level of goodness I mean). So many old school games I'd love to bring back.

And movies too for that matter. I wish lucas would just stop butchering star wars and redo the first two movies so they aren't bad, instead of making the older three movies bad to follow suit. Then we could go and start using more real actors and less CGI in movies (Cough matrix COUGH HACK Wheeze). Bring back the puppets instead of relying on some awful looking CGI you aren't going to bother doing right anyway!

ALSO PLEASE NOT THAT THESE PICTURES ARE CLEARLY NOT PHOTOSHOPPED OR FAKE, REAL OFFICIAL SOURCE RIGHT HERE!

I'm quite sure they're legitimate, because most photoshops look less like bad photoshops than the final product of anything lucas touches. It'd be way more realistic and less obviously photoshopped if it were indeed photoshopped.

Seriously, what's everyone so mad about? Are you really so nostalgic for the 70 year old woman who played the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back? Wouldn't it make just a wee bit of sense to make him look remotely like he did in Return of the Jedi? Is it such a travesty to retouch Darth Vader's lightsaber on the Death Star so it isn't a glowing white stick? Are you going to lose sleep over some extra in a jedi robe being replaced by the actual Anakin Skywalker at the end of RotJ? Just because something is changing doesn't mean it has to start sucking. Everyone screamed bloody murder when they decided to add third person to Theif, and nobody wanted to try tofu when they first made it (that last bit is conjecture). Come on, at least WATCH THE MOVIE before talking about slicing open George Lucas' diabeties infested body, a disease he contracted while selflessly splicing Star Wars together for you ungrateful muggles (see how I added something nerdy? That makes me cool on the internet!). And if you don't want him to screw around with THX1138, just go rent the old version and watch it over and over until you will submit to his will. It's all in the subliminal messages.

Edit: And Gadzuko, that website has no info because only those who know should be allowed to know. Rent THX1138. Now.

GO!

STOP READING THIS YOU FOOL! YOU'LL KILL US ALL!

Edit #2: WTH Yoshi go rent the video.

That won't work tycho. This is similar to the addition of the one second delay to the AWM in counterstrike. It's a small, nigh on insignificant, change but it's a change nonetheless.

Think of all the people that would complain if some joe wanted to "fix" Mona Lisa's smile.

And look a the Mona Lisa. The smile is like, half the portrait. Now look at Star Wars. Is the cackling old lady hologram like, half the movie? Or is it just a niggling detail that looks really weird?

Edit: And "some joe" isn't fixing Star Wars. It's George Lucas himself. He's not exactly stealing someone's work of art and making it his own, is he?

This sounds like a really huge rumour to me. Is there any story on StarWars.com that says that they're doing this?

Ok, hold on just a second there, which is the original emperor? The top or bottom one? And why does any change at all have to be a bad thing? If NS was updated to HL2 and recieved a makeover with high poly models and fancy pixel shaders, would you yell at Flayra for "ruining NS"?

Don't be stupid, changing a few minor actors and lines around to make them tie in with the new movies and updating the special effects is not a big or necessarily bad change.

What would you do if an Army of Darkness Special Edition came out, but all the corny special effects and dialogue was removed and improved, and the Deadites were replaced with "realistic" CGI, and they changed some of the scene where Ash battles a bunch of Mini-Ashes?

I.

WOULD.

SCREAM.

EDIT: And quite frankly, who needs to buy this edition when it comes out anyways? I've got my VHS of all three, I'm fine with just that.
