Hihihi. These show where your bullets are actually going. They work up to about 20 metres.

Have fun.

    Place in sprites folder.

    Edit: The one here is the one in the second pic because the other bullets arent useful and just get in the way.

    Good job! Might want to do them in some other colors too, like yellow and green (for rn <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->).

    Customization to be able to "railgun" skulks on a distance is very elite and skillfull, keep up the good work!

    i thought the shots were random?
  • comradecomrade Join Date: 2003-11-30 Member: 23774Members
    A common misconception. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Try hitting a skulk ~15 metres away with 1 bullet by using these xhairs. Or just shoot at a hive.

    this is 3 shots at the ground, i didnt move anything at all. it is less accurate the farter away you are...
  • crono1crono1 Join Date: 2004-01-20 Member: 25497Members, Constellation
    the decals you see there are clientside.
    shoot a hive to see how the shotgun REALLY works <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    it *is* random up until a certain point...

    the code uses a cone to measure the shots... just happens that these sprites are meausrements of the cone.

    Lol - I was confused for a minute, Delarosa had the last post and the topic didn't say locked next to it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Very nice work mu-

    One thing that's always worried me about customisation is the "unfair advantage" factor, especially considering NS doesn't currently have sufficient file consistency enforcement. I appreciate the value that customisation has, it is nice to style your NS to suit your preference. But why should someone be less effective with a shotgun because they didn't download sprites that tell them exactly where to fire? The crosshair wasn't intended to show exactly where each pellet will register and I'm sure there was a reason behind that. But, on the flipside you could say this applies to many things regarding gaming, e.g. people have better systems/connections/input devices - it's not strictly fair, but it's going to happen.

    It seems the community is leaning towards customisation, which personally I don't approve of but then again maybe my principles are out dated. From my experience, particularly in TFC, what starts off as genuine customisation often ends up in pure exploiting with people changing sprites/models explicitly to gain an advantage. Perhaps these musings are not relevant here, now I will shut up. This is a nice, novel innovation,
    I didn't know you had it in ya moomin.

    If people are downloading things to alter the interface/HUD, then those things should be incorporated into the game, rather than made incompatible.

    Testing now.

    And thanks, BTW.

    No but if you've had the aim all along and wondered what was wrong with your shotgun, this sprite is amazing. The fact is that the shotgun simply is not doing maximum damage where the curret crosshair points. If you aim with the old sprite, you won't kill as much. The 5 dots aren't as important on this one, but the circle that's moved up and to the right is very important.

    It makes one wonder how many instances of the spark bug have been blamed for the fact that the random shotgun spread seemed to be hitting an alien while the actual bullets were missing.

    Im still wondering why the 1st slot shotgun sprite is replaced by the pistol sprite...
  • ViPrViPr Resident naysayer Join Date: 2002-10-17 Member: 1515Members
    this is a blatant exploit. it's obviously a bug if the shotgun pellets don't go out randomly coz in real shotguns the pellets are designed to come out randomly. once flayra knows about this he will obviously change the code to make it random. this exploit allows you to snipe with the shotgun. ridiculous.

    and in real you could use the scope on your gun, there would be hella kick, 2 bullets in the head should take down a fade, a grenade launcher being shot at that onos attacking 3 of your heavies should take down everyone, and there would be no scorpion that hovers without flapping.
