Ns aliens "lifes"

More purdy concept-based pic(s)
Alright, I was reading the post a while back about what sort of medium the NS artists drew on, what programs they used, etc. and Sijun came up. I went to the site, looked around, read through the "tutorial," and decided to give my Wacom tablet a workout.

It's not done, and it's only my first attempt at this style of art, so be gentle I call them "lifes" because they're supposed to look like they were drawn from life (try getting Big Momma to pose for you... heh)

Nice..you are a person of TOO many skills..I think you need to lend me your mapping ones until you're down drawing

Wow, nice work, Jacius. I can't think of you or Wurmspawn without thinking of Pudgy so it's only appropriate that you draw him...

daft!!! you mer mortals aren't supposed to be given access to godly paradises such as Sijun, that's for people like me, people who have transcended the human form, and have become creatures of pure creativity!!! Hmm...on a side note, methinks i'll be creating an alien for you guys to look at soon, as my current pieces are more of a technologically advanced alien race, and they certainly would not fit into NS....

Hey, that's some nice work there, Jacius. Gald you've been "inspired" by other artist's and the Sijun forums.

And yeah, that tattoo is a nice touch. Might have to add that in when I skin the level 2...

    Lol!

What to do when you first encounter Pudgy in NS is to go up to him and ask:
    "Can I see your tatoo?"

Hmm Bob must do tatooing on the side. Love it to on the skin. Corny maybe but good.

Jacius, You cannot be so multi-skilled. Turn your mapping skill in to me until you're finished Skinning and Drawing

Doesn't seem to have the skinned models blend between red and green. I think you've lost some contrast while coloring. Up the contrast.

    Nice work.
Maybe you could try next time to create a pose that hasn't been there before (I doubt the lvl2 will have his two mouths opened all the time.)

    It sure looks great!

But I think the level 2 needs to look a bit dirtier and slimier, more green
  • JaciusJacius Join Date: 2002-01-25 Member: 43Members
Ok, the pose if obviously the same, because I used the level 2 concept art as a reference and background. It would be a lot harder to make a whole different pose, and that's a bit too much for my first project.

I've tried upping the contrast bar in PS, but that makes it look worse, in my opinion. This isn't a coloration, it was taken entirely from an outline/very rough sketch I made off the original concept art, so it won't look *exactly* like the original. I only made rough notes for where the slime should go.

I tried a little bit of a transition between the slime and the regular skin (the rough skin, kinda bubble/scaly). I will try making that a different shade so it blends more. I will also "dirty him up" a little bit, as requested

    Thanks for the suggestions/comments.
