Bo Staff Tutorials?

I need kung-fu
Been toying around with a slice of bamboo stick that my dad cut for me after I shattered the previous Revy stick he got me. I've been basically repeating the same things that my neighbour taught me the year before, and even though I haven't perfected it, its kind of getting boring for me... I need something new that's not just made up by me.

Does anyone know of any good online tutorials for use of the bo staff? Preferably with diagrams; I have video clips of bo staff usage, but it always seems to go too fast for me to follow, either that, or I can't refer to them cause I can't use a bo staff indoors...

/aspirations to be the next Star Wars kid...

well, its not really bo, but www.homeofpoi.com has some cool staff tutorials including .gif demonstrations.
youll not really threaten anyone with stuff learnt there, but you might at least impress them.

And here I thought kung fu involved barehanded fighting, silly me. My extensive (kung fu move) education leaves me lacking.

Kung Fu does feature staff work, but not Bo staff.

I took a few Bo Staff lessons back in Karate, and I have to say, it's much easier than Nunchucks!

Look for new ways or angles to block things, and new ways or angles to attack things. Be creative, think "Well, what if my opponent does this, or what if he's behind me, or..." that kinda stuff.

But if you want to know the good stuff, find your local martial arts place, and they should have a few books that might catch your interest.

It takes a long time of practice before you can become the next Darth Maul. The Star Wars kid is just impersonating stuff he's seen in the movies, I wouldnt be suprised if he never took a single lesson. Actually knowing how to use a Bo Staff is much cooler.

    Edit:

Im not sure you can use a bamboo stick as a bo..The bo I have here at home is not shaped like a bamboo stick, and it's heavier than a bamboo stick. What you have is probably one of these: http://jetli.com/jetli/media/videos/films_...=360&height=270

I actually try it with a PVC pipe, as it doesn't really have a chance to destroy to much (aside from the pipe, at least), and you can weigh it down if you want. Maybe I'm not thinking right with the bo staff...

I thought it was just basically a wooden pole about 5-7 feet high.

Either way it's pretty good exercise, and you can injure people who have knives or only other melee weapons. Bo saff/long pole > baseball bat .

Incidentally, a baseball bat has roughly the same weight allocation & size as a single butterfly sword. Get used to twirling bats, you're getting the same feel.
