I don't have a problem with action, and certainly not with violence, but that was just too much, I could not see why the entire theater was laughing every time a head was chopped off.
Oh well...
I'll still be going to see the next part when it hits the kino over here.
are you talking about the live-action scene or the anime scene?

tarantino refused to let his special effects coordinator person use modern blood squibs or digital enhancement in Kill Bill. instead, he did it old school, as a tribute blood opera style.

Well his "tribute" made a lot of his movie look stupid. At least he did it with style and used Condoms. Probably Magnums too.

The ONLY thing that really, really drove me insane about the whole film was the Japanese. I realize Lucy Liu is a) not actually Japanese and b) is only playing a half-Japanese character, but ... for someone who's supposed to be the underground gang lord OF JAPAN... come on, guys. Uma Thurman's Japanese was equally appalling, and it took ages for me to understand anything she was trying to say (disregarding subtitles).
That said.. IT HAD CHIAKI KURIYAMA (Go Go Yubari). I love and worship her, and want to be her girlfriend. So I was really happy to see her in an American film.... even if she does meet the untimely end that she does. *sob*
I'm going to see vol 2 tonight, possibly. Looking forward to it.
Tarrantino movies are like that.
Remember that the action wasn't supposed to be realistic, t'was <b>surrealism</b> that Tarrantino was aiming for.
I saw Kill Bill one last night. Holy carp is is fun.

awsome flippin movie
This isn't an "action movie," it's more of a live-action anime. Taken as such especially, it's an excellent movie and well written, directed and acted.
Admittedly though, it's an aquired taste.
I agree with Fade, watching Kill Bill was like watching a live-action manga. The scenes were even divided up into chapters; I thought that was kind of cool.
Mangas usually tend to contain more violence and nudity compared to anime series or movies based on the mangas. That's why I wasn't surprised seeing all those limbs being loped off, and blood bath.

Tarentino also said he was planning to release Volume 1 & 2 as a single movie, as he first intended. That cut will also feature the Crazy 88 fight in full color and some scenes they had to cut for the US release (but which were included in the Japanese theatrical release).
Oh yeah, what exactly was with the trailer for Hero? Didn't that come out last year?
EDIT: Yes it seems Hero came out awhile ago, but for whatever reason, the US release isnt until June of this year. But if your impatient you can buy the DVD on Amazon with English subtitles (all together now.. WTH?).
I'm surprised to see so many of you actally didn't like the movie.
Everyone I know, who went to see it just loved it.
I mean, it's action sequences are better than any of the matrixes in my opinion.

If the style was about visuals, then maybe we could be shown some camera angles that DON'T seem like they were done by a film student who said "Wow this would look cool! [snort]" The movie has some absolutely TERRIBLE camera work, almost sadistically so, or at least it did in the parts I watched.
And if this is like mangas- oh God, I don't think I've ever said this about anything(games included), but orgasms abound.
I haven't seen Kill Bill 1 yet but then I probably won't untill I can buy them both for 3 dollars and considering the mildness of this state, it will be like 2 months. So.. hopefully they are good.

and to make this post on topic: tbh i really didnt like vol. 1, i cant put my finger on why, but i did. i got all the references etc etc, but something wasnt right about it for me :/ didnt find it funny or anything, i just sat there wishing id gone to see finding nemo instead
