    Quite frankly, the old ready room made me want to vomit. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> I found it to be one of the ugliest pieces of a map I had ever made and I hated it far more than I have ever hated all versions of Maintenance combined. And no, the point of the new one is not for 'playing.' I specifically wanted a sort of before and after feel - I thought it'd be cool to take an infested part of the map and clean it up for a sense of "this is what Eclipse Station USED to be..." With time it's become clear that that idea is completely wasted, but there's no way I'm switching it back.

    As for the MS, that's another thing that I absolutely hated. Hell, the old one was technically -placeholder- until 2.0 came out! heh... I may see if there's a way to sort of mix the two together (I've even considered replacing the old doors just for the hell of it), but it's another area that isn't likely to revert much.

    It´s big enough and you could use the 2 entries for Team Selection and make 2 others for spectate and random team.

    yeah use eclipse hive! I´m convinced about this idea now

    Now that I think about it, the reason those pipes in triad look funny is the way they end at the wall lab texture so abruptly. Maybe you could put a flat circular plate where each pipe attaches to the wall with a circular "bolted" texture on(you do have the w_polys to spare judging from b3 eclipse)?

    edit: btw one of the really cool things about eclipse is that it manages to look really cool even though it has very nice w_poly counts in most situations.

    As for Veil, I like it, a lot. I don't think anything needs changing to speak of...

    The new changes look good Kung Fu, I also liked Triad that blue color though. The RR doesn't bother me, I like it and the MS has grown on me from the ancient days of 1.04, don't change it. (Relocating to the other side of MS is funny... skulks rush in and hop up that wall and get pistol-whipped, or they just sit there and go "WTH?" hehehe

    Fun stuff.

    The vent changes near south loop are highly intriuging, and dare I say needed. I'm very impressed with how well they integrate into the idea of the area that is imprinted in my brain.

    Will triad be more or less bright than the triad now? One of the greatest things of ns_eclipse is that it stayed dark between 1.04 and 2.0. Dim lights really add to the atmosphere and its kinda scary buidling an rt in triad when your alone.

    Having vents to go the back way around everything isn't too delightful. All new NS maps are doing that. But Its nice because they are weldable!

    But what I don't like is the change to Triad, seems less atmospheirc and looks more like 'meh, RT please' but it could be just me.     And of course, nice changes for MS, but I definitely hope that doesn't mean easier spots for marine shooting skulks taht are running in. There was always a problem with that when marines were covering both sides. Skulks never stood a chance that day :O

    I for one am in favor of the veiw blocking in triad... dont know how I feel about the lighting change though... the blue used to emphisize triad apart from the rest of the map, which I always liked, it built suspence as you moved in towards the dark and scary eclipse. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I agree with everyone else. Bright triad is bad. I don't mind the view blocking, but triad really did have quite an atmospheric feeling to it... And I've used the darkness in there so many times, as both marine and alien. I've hidden in the dark so I could sneak up on a fade, i've waited above a pipe waiting to ambush... That place was just so nice before. I really don't like the idea of it becoming lit...

    And whoever said the eclipse hive should be the ready room... it makes sense.

    I mean, the map <i>is</i> ns_eclipse.

    One thing that really bugs me about the readyroom at the moment is how they filled the bottom exit with concrete or something, and it just seems odd.

    Eclipse hive would be great.... you could even put a ladder to the left of where the hive goes (when facing the rt), right in that little dark corner, and make it go to observe match thing... ooo... ideas.

    ok. lol.

    so observe match goes there with a ladder leading up to a hole.

    the southern exit would become Random Team.

    to hte north, i think you should make it so that you can go in that hallway, and if you follow it towards computer core, it turns you alien, and if you go towards triad, it turns you marine...

    It would be really nice if you made it look like the rooms were actually there, rather then just adding darkness.... maybe even make it so you actually can get into the triad bit using the vent, and that could be the secret room or something <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Please try bringing back the doors. I really miss doors and such from the original ns maps. And if you do, make the open autolmatically again, no switches. I know alot was cut for optimization, but I miss it all.

    Lighter traid is better. If you want a darker map cut down on your brightness.


    Seriously, traid looked so out of place from the rest of the map which is all bright and stuff and it looks pretty bad.

    Not only does a dark traid look goofy, but traid is also the most alien based spot on the map, complete with 5 entry ways, 2 vents, a high ceiling, a complex ceiling, perfect curves for bhopping, and dark on top of that? It's overkill.


    If any place is made darker, then it should be maintence. That place is seriously a marine slaughter house, it wouldn't hurt to see some atmosphere added to that section of the map, not to mention make it a tad harder to track skulks in a giant wide open hive room.
