I think the first bit of advice I got in NS was someone screaming at me to shoot the damn grenades into the hive on caged at about half past release. Then onos turned up and CLIMBED A LADDER.

If you are a gorge... you heal whenever a team mate comes close. you just start healing.

- remove mouse acceleration
- get proper crosshairs
- get irc, start pugging, get to know cool people who can teach you ns. dont touch server community forums or irc channels whatever you do.

greyfalcon, your fresh and in a good way naive comments and suggestions on ns's balance are great to read, and they make people think about stuff. i wont recommend you to join a clan since after a few weeks or months with one you might be as conservative and introverted when it comes to gameplay changes as the rest of us. its up to you to decide i guess

- dont go comm if youre new, someone is bound to have a bad day and theyll take it out on you (ive done this many times! sorry!)
- if youre going with another marine, always know where he is so you dont run in his line of fire
- dont fall for the gorge bait, the skulk doesnt have endless patience. just dodge the spits and call for a med (bind z impulse 10)

Dropping chambers ONTO IPs/PGs is worth "bonuspoints". (aka failure in rine stuff if I remembered ok)

For me i think the things i wished i knew right from the start are as follows.

Marines:
1. You dont need ammo for you default gun, chances are you wont last longer than one clip. And if you do last longer than that it would be because your comm is dropping ammo/meds.

Aliens:
2. If your planning to drop the hive dont gorge and wait, go kill marines so that you reach the needed res faster.

Hold crouch when you go up a ladder FS and the importance of sound.jeeeezzz.
To listen to players like me because I'm better than you and know what I'm talking about.
That competitive NS makes public look like childs play.

how to bunnyhop, it took me 2 years of playing before I finally learned how to do it... it is probably the single most important aspect of NS because it helps every alien class(save the lerkiepoo).

Also the before mentioned rate fixes.
