Everyone should go see Pan's Labyrinth. That's all you need to know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> Here's the <a href="http://www.apple.com/trailers/picturehouse/panslabyrinth/" target="_blank">trailer</a> and it's <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/pans_labyrinth/" target="_blank">score</a> on RottenTomatoes.
It's basically a fairy tale made for an older audience with horror and suspense. One of its main draws is the amazing imagery. The designs in it are incredible.
If you've seen The Devil's Backbone which was also directed by Guillermo del Toro, you'll have a general idea of his style except that Pan's Labyrinth is infinitely better. Actually, he uses the Spanish Civil War as a backdrop in both of these movies.
Ill second that on Pan's Labyrinth, bloody nice movie. Fairytale for grownups alright. Very wonderful and sad and violent, to say the least, Gestapo violent.

L4yer C4ke was a fantastic film, Craig was absolutely brilliant in it. As for bond, well they picked the right man for the job.
On another note, I watched K-PAX last night and I have to say I did enjoy it. I've always liked Kevin Spacey after L.A. Confidential and American Beauty. Very weird film, but I thought the score was quite fitting and it was well acted out.
i agree on Kevin Spacey being a good actor. he was a brilliant serial killer in se7en aswell. i have no hesitations going to a Kevin Spacey movie, knowing it will be good. Unusual suspects?anyone remember that one ? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
O i totally forgot The Negotiator with Samuel L Jackson and Kevin Spacey.
Oo image of Pulp Fiction just came up. Sam L Jackson with an afro and John Travolta with a mullet! such brilliancy...

I think one of my favourite films of all time was "The Princess Bride".
I love pirates of the Caribbean because Johny Depp is hotsauce :3
I'll add to whoever said Children of Men was a fabby film. Some of the scenes in it are amazing and there's some downright fantastic camera work in it that at times can make you feel like you're in there in the action better than even games can manage.
As far as Pan's Labyrinth goes I really enjoyed it though I was surprised as I expected it to focus more on the fantasy side of things but it was predominantly set in the 'real world' :o
Other favourites I don't think I've seen mentioned are "Labyrinth", "Dark Crystal" and "Neverending Story" :D

No, actually, I don't remember that movie and I don't think I or anyone here has ever seen it. Nor do I believe Kevin Spacey had anything to do with it. I'm not even sure it exists.
Children of Men was pretty good. I think it could have been a wee bit better but I like how it doesn't hold your hand. That's also what I liked about the latest Pirates movie. Dead Man's Chest didn't baby the audience or anything and spend 20 minutes explaining that Jack made a deal with Davey Jones to raise the Pearl and make him captain and now Davey is back for Jack and etc etc etc. Add that to the seriously spectacularly awesome swordfighting, the nice adventurous humor and energy that's all throughout the movie, and the best special effects in the history of the world, and I thought it was pretty spectacular.
Casino Roylae was great, imho. I really enjoy Craig; I still don't think he really looks the part, but his acting is so spot on that it's not an issue at all; he's a really convincing character and makes Bond someone I really enjoy watching. Plus, the movie was long (I like long movies if they don't suck; another reason I liked Dead Man's Chest), the action sequences were pretty exciting, and that chick was hot (<a href="http://untilshedrowned" target="_blank">spoiler</a>).

I just saw Children of Men today. It was pretty much everything I expected (and I expected it to be good <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />). It was definitely one of the best movies this year. I know it's probably cliché to say this now, but the cinematography was excellent. And the action scene near the end was beautifully done.

I was with you up until V for Vendetta. For someone who just spent his whole post railing against ridiculous Hollywood cliches, logic-defying stories about nothing, and stereotypical characters, you sure picked a weird movie to like.
The Chinese take a worthless hill from the US GI during the 1953 truce talks in order to gain the upper hand in the talks. The US sends in 3 companies (with 1 reserve) to take it back as not to appear weak. The causalities are horrendous on both sides as the GIs retake the hill and hold it.
My Say:
a very good movie that is still very watchable even when compared to modern day war flicks. I only have one complaint, to me there never seem to be that sense of urgency one would associate with a battlefield but that could just be chalked up to where the characters were situated in regards to the front line.
