Obnoxious Interviewer

Splinter_SteveSplinter_Steve Join Date: 2005-03-20 Member: 45881Members
Not as good as my last link, but this seems like one worth posting also for anyone who hasn't seen it (usually if it's new to me, it's new to everybody).

<a href='http://www.wimp.com/everett/' target='_blank'>http://www.wimp.com/everett/</a>

Personally I think the interviewer got what he had coming. Some obnoxious media people think they're invincible and have a free check to be total asshats. Whose side do you take in this? Think the guy overreacted? Discuss, and enjoy!

Are you kidding? That's awesome. It's not a matter of the guy being part of the press, it's the matter of him being a turd.

Oldie but a goodie. That guy totally deserved to get some suprise sex from a pro football player.

That interviewer should have just stopped. If he hadn't tried to save whatever face he had left, he would've left untouched.

Hm. Well, I get the feeling that the newscaster got a good amount of money from that. No matter what someone's saying to you, so long as it isn't a threat or slander, a physical attack is a source of an easy lawsuit. Especially with the cameras running.

Here's hoping that Chris.. er, Jim is walking around a couple million lighter.

Stupid Quicktime, not to throw this offtopic but is there anyway to get Quicktime to actually WORK and not cause Firefox to shut down with an unexpected error?

Who cares if Jim/Chris had his wallet lightened because of his actions? The sportscaster deserved much worse than he got. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

He should have been beaten to death.

Here’s hoping that interviewer had to buy a new pair of pants...cocky little **** that he is.

Also I think Mr. Everett will be just fine in court, he gave a clear warning to the guy to stop. A decent lawyer should be able to hold that he was provoked into a state of uncontrollable anger.

Thats an old clip, back when Jim Rome was starting. I love him, he's just honest...espcially his Radio and ESPN show.

Eh, what about the incident with Gordie Howe?

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
Rome also caused controversy when, in 1997, he challenged hockey star Gordie Howe's plans to play a shift with the IHL's Detroit Vipers, which would have given "Mr. Hockey" the claim of having played professional hockey in six decades. Rome offered a bounty of $3,000 to any player on the team playing against the Vipers to take Howe out of the game permanently. Howe and his wife threatened Rome with a lawsuit, and the bounty went away.

Yes, I'm on the 'knob's' side. There is NEVER a call to attack someone physically for something they say to you. No matter if there was a warning given or not, Chris should have simply stood up and walked offstage. As it stands, Chris committed assault. The 'knob' did not commit battery, he was not threatening Chris, his family, or any other associated individual. He was simply being intentionally annoying, leaning on one of Chris' buttons. Last I knew, there's nothing illegal about that.

Slugging someone for calling you a name is something a redneck would do. The rest of us are hopefully a bit more civilized, even to annoying people. After all, you have to deal with them the rest of the time too. Just because you're a minor sports celebrity doesn't give you the right to 'shut someone up if they don't shut up'.

Of course, he COULD always go for the 'mentally deficient' plea. The 'learning disadvantaged' aren't expected to adhere to civil conduct.

I don't know, theres a thin line between backing down from a fight because your the better man, and being subservient and bullied.

I'm willing to bet given enough private information about your life and speaking in a dreadfully mocking tone in front of your face, I could drive you to physically harm me.

As I’m sure if pushed, and as has happened once before, so would I.

Ether way I don't think this counts as assault, he really didn't do anything to him after he through the table. The **** kinda tried to hit him and sort of pushed off him and fell to the ground after that some guy and ran up and it looked like it was all over.

Of course we don't know all the circumstances so it's hard to tell what was going through his mind. It appears like the interviewer had been harassing him for some time, 5 years I think he says, so it's not like it was some random play insult.
He clearly meant to irritate and hurt him.

This isn't your "guy on a cell phone in a movie theater" annoyance. He was warned and he continued to harass, honestly it's like watching a bird flying up to a lion and pecking it in the eye over and over, you don't feel sorry for the bird when it gets eaten.

Try grabbing the quicktime alternative codec and then getting .mov to associate with mplayer or whatever you use. Just uninstall quicktime while youre at it.

The football player could barely string a coherant sentence together. I think this would be perfectly plausable.

Not really. He was pretty coherent, especially for someone who was obviously really ticked off.
