I have nothing against gaming competitions and clans, but I still think "cyber athlete" is one of the most hilarious and ridiculous pairing of words in the english language.

Basically it says CAL will be going Pay-to-Play next season. I don't know the specifics (is it just CAL-NS only?) but that's basically what it says.

Its CAL, not just CAL-NS. There has been no word from cal apart from the angel munoz interview.

I really don't think its cause to freak out. They wont make ns pay to play if it will kill the division. Chilax folks.

OK so they totally screw up the NS final and they have to come up with the perfect idea to remedy it and win over the NS community once again.

Their perfect plan is, and man this is inspired:

if cal-ns goes pay to play i guarantee you the league will die and whatever is left of the clan scene is going to go to ugl

noone is going to throw money, no matter how small, into a purse they know they won't win (because honestly the delta finals are going to be between 2 specific teams anyways)

hell i definitely wouldn't put any money in because there's a 75% chance i'm just going to get my own money back plus a few dollars anyways, i might as well put in a few hours overtime at work

It's really not CAL's fault if the NS competitive community isn't active enough to provide a reasonable number of clans confident enough to put up an entry fee... Besides, why does it matter what happens to CAL-NS? A tourney is a tourney, anyone who really cares about the competitive scene and is willing to maintain one can start one for NS.

I think they should make it division-specific... A division with few teams such as PainKiller (I counted less than 10 active teams in the 2v2 Open) won't be able to live with teams who aren't willing to pay. I'm sure the top delta teams will pay, but the lower omega teams will most likely be unwilling due to the amazing skill gap between them and the rest of the teams.

Speaking as a new person to the clan/competitive scene, I would have never gotten into CAL-NS if there were a registration fee.

I dislike UGL because the site is pretty unprofessional, with a black background, choppy images...

Although I'm going to definitely switch to UGL if CAL-NS goes pay to play.

who needs cal anyways, just copy down their rules somewhere and form your own league, heck youd be able to fix any problems you had with the current settings think of it as a chance to start over.

Well, there's UGL. No reason to form another league if there's a decent one out there already.
