    Ignoring the Forlorn comment, a basic marine is faster than a non-celerity onos. I've never seen stompt fail to stop a marine even when he's at lv. 7 cyber. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention.

    extralevels2 is not mine to change. I simply ported it from amx to amxx and in the process became quite familiar with it's workings.

    I still contend the plugin is totally customizeable by the server op, who has the ability to balance it perfectly.

    Ya know, that's probably a good question. Often coders assume the people downloading their plugins at least have a working knowledge of what's inside, when in fact they simply could care less what's inside. They simply compile it then install it.

    The solution here would be for the plugin creator to take a few extra moments before releasing it to ensure the default settings would leave the plugin balanced, if that's possible. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    I only use 2 extralevels of depot's 50 level plugin and the advanced upgrades in the /menu is disabled.

    Plus combat should be lvl 11 IMHO, due to the fact that in ns classic a 3 hive onos with all 3 chambers is a level 11 onos in co in co if onos gets charge bam he can only get 2 chamber upgrades with max level 10...

    I have level 12 so that marines can actually stand a chance in CO as at level 10 even with good marines they always lost but at level 12 they actually do win more often... but above level 12 is a big no no IMHO..

    Also depot in you extralevels2.sma i can disable the /menu function but i can't find a part where i can stop the actual menu coming up fullstop. Can you plz let me know if this is possible thnx.

    I think he was making an allusion to that pseudo-smart post about how we should explore all angles of the death of NS as a game.


    But yeah, the final view of the situation is obvious: Classic is dying, Combat is becoming the favored playtype. I can't agree with this tendency, but I'd say that Classic, Combat, and the player mentality are all equally responsible for this change.

    The complaint isn't that extralevels is too easy, it's that extralevels completely warps the game into something it was never intended to be.

    I remember a day in which there was nothing to play BUT NS Classic. I remember a day in which there was no Combat, but more importantly none of this fifty levels crap. I remember a day in which people had to actually wait around in NS servers until enough people joined to get a 4v4 going.

    Combat, in my opinion, satisifies that impulsive urge that people get to play NS. I play it still, and I still say that it's a horrible misproportioned replica of the real game.

    The difference is that now a days people can satisfy their obsessive hunger to mow things down in CO quickly and effectively. No one except the vets care to play NS Classic anymore, it's slow and ponderous by comparison.

    I remember that day too! It was back when:

    1) NS was first released - making it the new hotness that everyone wanted to play
    2) NS Classic was fun - linked hives, perma gorges, reasons to defend other players and hold spots on the map...
    3) Everything was new and things like the ninja phase / shotgun rush were the new amazing tactics.

    Now we have a game that's been out for 3 years, has undergone major gameplay changes since "those days" and is, quite frankly, not nearly as fun as what it once was.

    The most recent additions to his bansite. It seems our NS Combat fanatic has grown fond of extralevels .. :-o Maybe it's because of ... ME

    He can't take classic, he can't take standard combat, and this is the final resort. This is what it all boils down to, with Teppla being a perfect subject. Extra levels isn't for the thinker and player combined, it's for the player.

    Veterens used to be proclaimed... 'Team stacking mutants who only went into servers to disobey the commander and spawn camp', and you see the majority of us despising that which you've said we are.

    Like said above... there are 2 types of players that have been brought to this game.. with combat and with NS Classic... The player, and the thinker... The thinker/player has been made suitable to Cal, the thinker has been brough into more of a pubbing classic environment, where he knows his regulars, but isn't really wanting to take that step into a competitive scene... yet... The player is just what people used to say vets were... He wants to play, and that's it... And this is what you'll find, alone, on the extra level servers... as well as most combat servers. This is also why this was brought to be.

    Natural selection wasn't appealing to all, but some people are just naturally good with a keyboard and mouse, and enjoy this game for the slaughterfest it can become on huge combat servers... The thinker and player combination, has taken presidence since the begginning of this game, and will remain there for quite some time.... until...

    The REAL question is why no one has written an Auction House plugin for NS Classic yet, where you can sell off your LMG ammo and unwanted shotguns in exchange for a shiny jetpack.

    That's what the game <i>really</i> needs for an infusion of players.

    NS was about thinking and strategy, combat is about a quick fix, nuff said. You should never introduce it in such a way its likely to overtake your own creation. I don't know flayras intentions, but if this was my mod, I wouldn't allow it.

    iv been playing sence the day it came out ilike both ns and co, co helps me by getting aiming practice, then i like ns the most, if you dont wana play co maps why dony u just put ns under map names in ur search filter and u wont see anymore combat maps.. there ya go!

    It's a complaint about what's happening to combat servers, not to combat in general

    You haven't been reading have you? I guess I can't blame you since anything worth posting I did on page 1 - 5 or so, and now its up to 23.

    I'll give you a short summary. I never actually said anything about extra levels in combat, I was not defending or attacking any server mods for combat. I, instead, was attacking Classic's game play and the fact that Classic is no longer fun for the average player. Since this thread is about combat and its plugins, what I said really was not relevant to the post at all, but I always like pointing out that the reason why combat is so much better over classic is becuase classic is no longer the game it once was.

    Also, teppla's e-peen is very dependant on how many times he is mentioned on the forums - it just grew about 10 fold.

    But dude, enough about that. I've been playing a lot of World of Warcraft but just canceled my subscripton becuase the honor system is impossible to rank up in. Tomorrow a new video card will be in my comp and I'll be able to play BF2 - I hear thats fun. Hope all is well Prodigy! Stay safe - and remember - Jesus saves from sin.

    SentrySteve, Emanon, and anyone else interested in the CompetitiveCombat plugin, I just posted a <a href='http://nsmod.ugleague.org/forums1/index.php?showtopic=155' target='_blank'>new release</a> which doesn't require tournamentmode to be enabled. I need it tested please.
