mantrid... the difference between consoles and PCs as both different and viable gaming platforms has already been beaten to death in several other threads. It'd probably be in your best interests to stop preaching the PC like some kind of religious fanatic in console threads :p
Consoles are enclosed pieces of hardware that need no technical knowledge, fiddling about, driver updates, installations or anything to run and because they're a set format they guarantee consistant and refined performance. What you see on the game screenies is exactly what you'll see on your TV. Oh and the game won't need any patches to run straight from the box either ^~
Meanwhile the PC is a modular platform which not only lends itself to instability but also means that software can't be specialised to take advantage of certain configurations as almost any combination is actually possible. The advantages of course is that someone with good technical knowledge, who doesn't mind keeping their software up to date and tweaking things can make it run much, much better than most 'average' people would get it and of course, some people find it fun to make their own stuff :3 Oh... and how could I forget that the PC is capable of being far more than just a games machine :p
While PCs remain the mouse and keyboard platform it'll be superior for certain games over the console, while the joypad is infinitely better on the others. Should consoles start coming bundled with pad, mouse and keyboard by default it'll make for interesting choices :o
They're both different, they both have pros and cons. Just because they started an outer design that mimics PC cases doesn't really merit screaming 'omg PC is teh one!' by any stretch of the imagination as the hardware design mentality between the two platforms as well as the actual titles to the greater degree are still vastly different and probably will be for quite some time :3

Also, these free games will cost Nintendo nothing except bandwidth.
They might actually make more money offering them for free.
By offering them free, they don't pay anything except bandwidth, while their consumer base grows, and they gain a profit (most likely) from the console sales, have more companies get interested in the console due to the consumer base, and also gain a profit (definitely) from more new generation game sales.
Win-win-win situation for them, I think.
They could offer the games for like 25 cents each or something, and I'd certainly buy them... But then that would only capture older kids who have access to credit cards most likely. It will be much more difficult for younger people to get ahold of the games, which might cause them to go to one of the other systems. Offering something like 100 games free with a system is a major selling point, in my opinion.
This is a little offtopic, but will the revolution only be compatible with wireless LAN setups? All the people out there with a wired internet connection (like me) would be kinda left out...

Actualy as it is N, they could simply sell prepaid cards at every major (and minor) vidoe game retailer!
CC? what for?
buy 4 games for a buck!

1) I am assuming that N:R will have wired capability (and if not you can probably buy an adapter or something) 2) N :R will play GC games, so I tihnk that it is <=N64

Oh yeah, btw, if you're looking to get this for Megaman X-X3, realize that Capcom's coming out with the Megaman X Collection for PS2, which will have X-X6 (that includes the 3 PSX titles, too, along with some other random things). So basically I've found a reason for my PS2 through collection software (MegaMan, MegaMan X, Sonic <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
EDIT: Oh yeah, and the Megaman collection comes with Megaman 8, which was a Saturn/PSX game.
Well I would have actually use Famicom and Super. But yeah, I did come up short on both of them, got careless. But if it's Sa-Ness and N-E-S, ahh nevermind.
