In Rome Total War?

I've had R:TW for awhile now but I only recently started paying attention to things like "strategy" and "character names".

Clearly some clever programmer put this in a joke, and it makes me wonder how many others spoof names are in the game.

Anyway so this topic isn't a total waste, because I felt I had to share this, feel free to talk about any R:TW related topics.

Heh the ironic thing, in hindsight, is that it was pretty much a trap.

Poor Akbar was a Carthaginian Admiral and I had just recently agreed to a ceasefire with them. Unfortunately for them they continued to flood the Adriatic with their "fleets". The people of Rome simply won't tolerate such an insult.

I believe my battle hardened fleet of 5 triremes put an end to Akbar.

Technically it should be "Ackbar" if you're going for a full tribute.

Another funny easter egg in R:TW was that some factions (Only Egypt so far) will demand that you give them one of your cities and it says "All your base are belong to us." I'll try and get a screeny next time it happens.

Man I got really RTW, but my empire has gotten too goddamned big. My capital is Sparta, kinda right in the middle. My towns on the outskirts keep rebelling and getting governers all the hell over there takes a lot of time. The Germans keep taking my Gaul settlements and the Egyptians are horrible douchebags. Every serious attempt I make to kick their **** always gets slowly chopped to pieces. It's like Vietnam for godsakes, I kill a couple thousand of them for every couple hundred of mine, but they just keep coming!.

Heh I know what you mean.

I'm fairly certain the Egyptians maintained their empire by building soldiers out of sand and bringing them to life with Pharaoh Magic.

The Egyptian diplomats are the worst to, they always talk to you like you’re a worthless nothing compared to Pharaoh, even if your armies are laying siege to his capitol. I take a special delight in having them assassinated.

There's a screenshot out there somewhere of something I got once; the enemy diplomat comes to me with the following:

    Demand:

    Please do not attack us.

    If you refuse:

    We will attack you.

    Riiiiiiiight.

That is how most countries should do most of their diplomacy. Clear and simple.
