IT IS NOW NIGHT 2, NO POSTING
Day broke like a tidal wave over the Luz de la Luna. The entire ship erupted into chaos at the sound of the gunshots, and fell into mourning when the two corpses were found in pools of their own blood, each shot through the heart at close range.
TheMuffinMan tried desperately to control the situation, “Men, men, shut yer faces and quit yer blubbering, we’ve work to do. Our crewmates deserve a proper burial at sea.” The ceremony they all had wished they would never have to perform was performed respectfully but quickly, and before their bodies had gone cold Swiftspear and Snidely were lying on the seabed, each tied to a brick of stone to avoid the grisly sight of floating bodies riding the tide.
“Now that we’ve paid our respects, it’s time for action. I smell mutiny afoot. Those two weren’t just randomly killed; they had no enemies on this ship as far as I know. No, the only thing of late they did that someone would kill them for…was they both supported me as the new Captain. So, we have a load of mutinous dogs on this ship, eh? The moment you took the life of a crewmate of MINE, you resigned yourself to an Earthly Hell, you stickin’ pack of…”
“But, TheMuffinMan, how do you know there are a group of mutineers on the ship? Couldn’t there just be one?” piped Legionnaired.
“A dog never acts alonec” came the muttered reply.
“And how do we know YOU didn’t kill them, oh wise Captain?” shouted Condizzle from the back of the group. “You seem to know EXACTLY why they were killed; in fact, it all seems to fit perfectly into your plan to take control of this ship. I’m not buying it; there’s no one here who would willingly kill anyone else, especially not in the name of mutiny. I’d do it no sooner than you, or you, or you!” Condizzle was now worked into a frenzy of motion. “Mutiny? Don’t make me laugh. You just want the money for yourself. You ALL want the money for yourselves! im_lost, Theslan, Comprox, you guys trust me, right? Can’t you see? We’re all being lied to! We’ve got to stop the-“
In one smooth motion, Comprox pulled out his revolver, and shot Condizzle in the back of this head. The hapless crewmember fell to the ground, his own brains falling in a pool around his collapsed skull. Comprox broke the stunned silence.
“Oh I trust you. We’re being lied to alright. But that was not helping.”
I'll need pms from the wolve(s), the psychopath (if alive), and the seer (if alive). Day 2 will start Thursday at 3PM EST / 8PM GMT
IT IS NOW DAY 2, POST AWAY
Comprox looked at the group of sailors around him. Longtime friends, all of them, now shocked speechless by the gory death of one of their own, at the hands of a supposed friend. For a moment, Comprox feared the retribution that was sure to come. ’How could I have been so stupid’ He thought to himself, ’Dangerous or not, I shouldn’t have just shot him like that…’ He closed his eyes, waiting for the shot that would surely come…but never did. He opened his eyes slowly. TheMuffinMan was standing in front of him, scrutinizing him with steely blue eyes. The new Captain slowly turned to face the crowd of men behind him.
“I didn’t see, how did this poor sap get his brains blown out? Anyone catch it?” TheMuffinMan stared at each individual face until the crewmate gave a small head shake of a denial. “That’s what I thought. Now, clean this mess up; I want to be on that island ready to start our search in one hour. MOVE!”
Hours of water, mops, dumpings, packing, walking, stopping, and more walking later, the (diminishing) band of crewmates found itself looking down on their proud ship from the very same cliffs they had been ambushed from the day before. Unfortunately, the only thing worth looking at was the ship; their ambushers had left absolutely no clues as to their identities, and even the blood stains from long-removed bodies were scuffed and well-hidden. Frustrated with a day of no successes and many failures, and with night fast approaching as the sun set on the far side of the volcanic mount, the crew elected to camp for the night on the largest of the cliffs nearby, and to proceed to the summit come daybreak.
All of the crewmembers thought to themselves, ’This is perfect,’, but at least a few were thinking this for all the wrong reasons…
As soon as people started drifting off to sleep, it immediately became apparent why this was not the best of spots to sleep in. The cliff was inclined away from the mountain, and the soil was sandy and loose; consequently, there was the ever-present fear of rolling or sliding off of the cliff. Some preferred to sleep propped against a rock. Some decided to sleep behind one of the scraggly bushes that dotted the cliff. At the same time, some wanted to show off their masculinity and enormous girth in the groin area by sleeping right out in the middle of the area, chuckling as they dozed off about the bunch of cowards they lived with. Well, for two at least, they wouldn’t have to worry about that much more.
Xentor awoke at the first kick, dazed and confused and wondering if he was just imagining things. Then, he felt another kick, and with it came two realizations: one, that he wasn’t dreaming, and two, that he was sliding and rolling towards the edge of the cliff. He tried to scream, but discovered too late that a large clump of brambles and leaves had been shoved into his mouth. As Xentor fell, kicking and (silently) screaming over the edge of the cliff, he looked down, hoping to see the cove at high tide. Instead, he saw the decks of the Luz de la Luna rising up to meet him. Xentor curled up into a ball, bracing himself for impact. When it came, it hit with such a force that he thought he’d simply break in two. Instead, it was the floor that did most of the breaking.
As Xentor lay there, concussed and bleeding, his mind tried to make sense of the fact that he was still alive. What had broken his fall? And why was he covered in a fine powder, powder that smelled exactly like…saltpeter? Which is exactly what it was; mounds upon mounds of gunpowder, the entire ship’s stock, to be exact. And off in a corner, Xentor saw through double vision and blood seeping into his eyes, a single figure sat, tied and gagged to a chair. Hazy as it was, there was no doubt; Cheetah sat in that chair, his head rolled to one side, alive but unconscious.
It was only then that Xentor noticed the small spark of the fuse lying at Cheetah’s feet, only an inch from the edge of the pile of explosive powder. ’Oh fu-‘ was the last thought he ever had, as Xentor, Cheetah, and the entire ship exploded in a thunderous fireball.
Good, I get to have today's first random vote. I'll vote for Cyndane. She keeps saying that she is the psychopath, and I don't really believe it (or disbelieve it, for that matter), but it's good enough for a random vote.
As far as the votes go, i don't really have much of a clue. I suppose that Xentor may have been voted off because he has experience playing as a wolf. Cheetah, on the other hand. I cannot think of any particular reason why he would be killed. Perhaps he slipped up in a private pm with someone, i don't know
Or maybe the wolves or psychopath wanted to target someone they were sure the other side wouldn't target, to avoid a botched murder. There's a reason for randomness now, making it even harder to figure anything out.
Going by the theory that the killings weren't so random, I can give two guesses as to why Xentor and Cheetah died. If we look at the votes, Xentor may have died to try to make Theslan look suspicious. After all, Xentor is the only one who voted for Theslan. I don't totally buy this idea but, its an idea.
I feel stronger about my theory on why Cheetah was killed. Again, by the votes, this was done to implicate SaltzBad. Cheetah voted for Saltz and vice versa. Early game, it did look like some wolves had piled on SaltzBad already to try to off him, but with people suspicious I guess they turned their attentions on someone else. They still want him dead though so to try to get him lynched, they wolf Cheetah and hope people look at the votes in the last day.
Right now I have no idea who to vote for, just those thoughts on the killings.
That's quite a stretch, in for either of them. There's also the possibility that it was a botched murder, and one of the deaths was a wolf/psychopath, and wasn't actually targeted. From what I can see, there's no openly known reason for either of them to die, and if anything happened by PM, we won't know until the postgame thread. Cheetah doesn't even seem like a sensible target, with 6 posts total to his account. I hope someone else can see more than me on the subject, though.
I'll have to agree with Zerobyte that the kllings can't be random. But I do think they're not targetting the obvious targets in fear of having both groups target the same person.
As for the killings, I admit Xentor makes me look suspicious. Xentor voted for me and stick to it. I agreed with him and Condizzle about certain ideas (go read past threads), and now they're both dead. However, it ends there...
Similar to Cheetah. From what I can tell, Cheetah voted once and stick with the vote, though Xentor was more vocal... Cheetah posted once. Perhaps some IRC conversation led to his demise? Since I have no info, this killing completely baffled me. The logic of using Cheetah's death to imply Saltzbad seems very week to me. Does anyone had any connection with Cheetah?
Well... I was going to vote on Xentor for voting on me last round, but I guess I can't do that. So I'm sticking with CMEast for now (need to still use up that rent you had on me). Feel free to vote back on me. As always, I'll change my vote when I see something suspicious.
Note to self... Spellcheck, spellcheck, spellcheck.
As for the botched murder, im_lost, we have to wait until tonight to see whether the psychopath is still living and the psychic sees one less wolves. If it is botched and the psychopath died, we'll all know. If a wolf dies, I hope the psychic has some means to tell people about it.
Yeah, I connect to the UK server which works fine for me. Sorry to see you both go guys but it was too early to hope for one less wolf I guess
I'm not going to vote for anyone yet as I'm pretty sure Theslan is human and I don't want to start accusing anyone until I see where the other votes fall.
I think the killings might be random just to confuse us. We know that at least one will be because of the psycho as we've had no clue as to the seers identity yet. The other, I think the wolves are playing cleverly and trying to avoid a trail that leads back to them. Tactical killings tend to be clues, fairly obscure at first but it will all add up. Random killings aren't as useful...
Although saying that, a random kill is a clue too as, when people think random they automatically jump to people they've had no contact with.

It's games like this that you're faced with the decision of trusting or disbelieving the information. I agree with TheMuffinMan, although it's up to you if you trust the information or not.
OK, I have a theory that at least one of the persons who hopped on to the Condizzle bandwagon is a wolf. The post I used for evidence was actually pretty old - isn't it funny how no one seemed to care about it until I pointed it out? Bandwagons are easy to hop on as it attracts little attention and it's easy to vote for someone that way (ie "I agree" rather than "I think so-and-so is a wolf because ..."). If Condizzle was human, I don't think a wolf would pass up on the opportunity to hop on a bandwagon to kill him off - especially if there's a wolf in the danger of being lynched (such as MuffinMan or SaltzBad or whoever had several votes last day). This means that one of these is probably a wolf (possibly more - or maybe I'm wrong altogether): Petco, Legionnaired, TheMuffinMan, Gwahir, Comprox Since Petco placed the first vote, I don't really suspect him. I'm not on the list, obviously, since I know I'm human (and I sort of started the bandwagon). Especially keep in mind TheMuffinMan had a lot of votes near the beginning of the day. Anyway, I'm not going to place my vote yet, just pointing this out.
I vote Gwahir for mysterious unknown reasons. Reasons that, if I were to reveal to you, your head will explode and stuff will come out. Most likely the stuff that you want to keep in[/in] your head.
Okay, so my reasons aren't [i]that profound, but still. [b]Gwahir[b].

@brute force : It makes more sense to look at the people who were being saved than all the voters, by your reasoning. And you make perfect sense - this is the kind of voting analysis I'm talking about. Because, if anything I'm alot more suspicious based on voting - I did not vote for Condizzle to save myself, being careful to not give the appearance of being desperate to survive - when in fact, I was really not looking forward to dieing. Admittedly my reason for not voting for Condizzle was that I didn't believe him to be a wolf, but the point stands - don't forget to look into the inverse logic, people being careful instead of blatant, and don't be afraid to start with the smallest sample group for suspicion - MuffinMan and me.
Anyway, thats what I've been trying to do as well the last few hours, and I don't have suspicions that clearly outrank anything else. This isn't as frenetic a day2 as last time, but leads and characters are starting to crystallize.
For now I'm voting for SaltzBad, to avoid a phantom. Lets just hope my own bandwagon against me doesn't take off again

It makes more sense to look at the people who were being saved than all the voters, by your reasoning.
