    Guild Wars is free, but sadly seems flawed, even at the early stages I'm at. (level 2)
    It is played like a MMORPG level-wise,but you can only explore the worlds outside of towns with other people if you're in a party. (starts at only 2 people) This I admit sounds intriguing, and worth looking into. CORPG is correct.
    Sadly, the town system is f**ked. You enter a town, and it randomly assigns you to a district. Problem is,it's hard to find another English speaker let alone a district. This is a pain in the ****,there's no language system to allow for different districts for each language. A case of guess and hope. Major minus point for GW.
    Also, you have to load each area, but this isn't a problem as once you load it once,it's done. Just a 3-second gap each time.
    Second problem; bad controlling system for fighting IMO. Not quite as easy to use as WOW's system. Can lead you to attacking enemies when you don't want to,and also there's an early quest that is bugged involving a small child.
    GW is free though. The only positive so far.
    I think GW has great potential,I like the sound of it's PvP guild battles. It just seems very clunky.

    My advice:

    Buy WOW. If you don't like it's gameplay and wouldn't want to play it for another month, then try GW. But personally WOW > GW so far. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Also, the control system you merely gotta get used to. Once you have, its much better than WoW's system.

    Also, what aging PC are you on? 3 second loads? Mine have never been over a second.

    While I really don't like guild wars, I kinda think judging a game by level 2 is a bit... uh... hasty <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I'm already getting a replacement PlanetSide from Play.com, so I don't want to have 2 MMO's on my credit card. I'll probably not really have enough time for PS, let alone WoW.

    Also, the whole RPG thing puts me off WoW, as high-level characters have a much better chance at beating a low-level one in WoW, than in GW. (Been round a freind's, who has both, and I like GW better than WoW.)

    Ahh, sod it, I'm ordering GW. Might as well have 2 games thyat I'm going to report to their respective devs about the x64 issue, as neither really have tested their product with it...

    The thing is, WoW is fun, but it's not fun enough for me to justify the monthly fee. Guild Wars is fun enough to justify the monthly fee. It's frusturating for me right now, because I'm a Monk (Mo/N16). In missions, I just play healbot, which gets boring. In PvP, I am always the first one targeted, which is annoying. I probably need to switch to a different class, but I've already spent dozens of hours on my character.

    so if you get to lvl 20 in GW so quickly... what do you spend all your time doing after that? just getting better equipment and whatnot?

    I have a real tendancy in MMO games to lose interest shortly after getting a char to max lvl, and if that happens in just a week or two, then <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    edit: so far of the MMO's I've played, WoW kept me interested for about 3 months, SWG for about 2, and Planetside for about 3 and counting...

    Once you get to top, you do PvP, ranging from normal to guild based and slowly moving up the ladder.
