into a closet.
Yeah...so got kicked out of the dorms, with no where to go and no job to support myself . Thankfuly some friends said I could stay with them until i found a place. After a couple of days of searching for a apartment I could actualy afford and most of a fifith of Jim Bean, we latched on to the crazy idea that I could stay there, in the utility closet.
So given the lack of options, and the lure of rent being around 100 bucks a month I bought some cinder blocks, a sheet of plywood to make a "bed" out of and moved into the closet. Its about 4 by 5 and half feet. I've managed to cram all my stuff (including my computer.....its suprising how well a monitor can balence on a cinder block) into this space somehow.
So now, after living for about two weeks in this closet, which of course has no windows, smells horrible as we forgot to clean up the floor before moving all myself in (thank god for incense....makes it livable) , and between my computer and the lack of veltialtion or airconditioning gets really flipping hot, I got to think, how bad is this really? I can stand it, but how many other people have had to put up with worse over the years?
So what the worst place you've ever had to live in?

Doesn't sound TO bad, just get a fan(or 10) and just keep them on, use them to pull air out of the hall into the room or something.
I heard about a guy who did something like that one semester at Texas A&M. He forgot to sign up for classes. So, what he did was sleep in the Student Center (which was open 24/7) and kept a locker at the YMCA, so he could store clothes and take showers.
Remember, shelves are your friends in small spaces.
Also, that closet sounds like it's a bit smaller than half of a dorm room. Should feel right at home
How'd you get kicked out of the dorms?

Generally they boot you out 24 hours after your last exam...but maybe he did something heinous . Pfffft, I love small spaces, small spaces rock.

Both your Post and that Futurama episode..... are awesome.
As far as getting kicked out of the dorms....well...I was allowed to stay until the close of the dorms (its only until noon on the day after finals at my college)...but i'm not exactly welcome back, nor was I allowed to apply for summer student housing. I swear, get caught smoking in your room once, a handful of alcohol related noise citations (luckly was over 21, so there not much they could do about he booze), call your RA a nazi, and get caught cooking some...ahem...substances of questionable legality in the dorm kitchen (actualy the time I was caught it was legal...but try and convince a nazi RA that there is such a thing as a legal halucinogenic, and that the dorm rules don't outlaw the cooking of it into a smokable hash..bastard took my hash pan, it was a cute little thing...getting a bit off track here though) and suddenly Residence Life board on your ****. I think they might have been a bit stricter with me as I did somehow get my way into the nicest dorm on campus...which is usualy researved for the "good kids"...purely bureracartic error on their part, some how missed my list of dorm rule violations from last year that should have kept me out of there....
And yes, shelves are friends...theier the only way I managed to fit all my crap in this room....thinking of mabye instaling some more on the other side of the closet as
well.....
anyways....room picture one:
Am I the only one who thought that this didn't really work out the way it was supposed to?

Exactly.
I plan on moving in a uber small place thats cheap. As long as I have a garauge and a kitchen (they can be all one small room) I'm good. (oh yea, bathroom too -_-)
In the back of a M-109 2-1/2 in Korea some time ago. In the dead of winter we heated the box with 2 hotplates in -30F weather, and had to jump into starched ice cold fatigues when we awoke. We slept in sleeping bags mounted on a bunkbed frame wired to the walls of the cabin. It was cold, very cold.

Yeah, but did you get stabbed? Renegade got stabbed, did you get stabbed?
There's only room for one "omfgbadassarmydude" about these parts!
Achievement++!
I hope your computer has a decent cooling system; a hot computer certainly can't help the hot closet problem.
All I know is, it was friggin cold as hell sleepin in the back of that deuce-and-a-half with 2 rinky-dink hot plates to keep us warm, and the dam cold **** starched fatigues were like brutal. And then we'd head itno the field to work on missiles and launchers in -30F weather with our bare hands cuz gloves wouldn't allow us to work on the delicate parts.
