<div class="IPBDescription">Used to be fine.</div> What used to happen: I'd be playing on a server by myself with a ping of 60ish and Michelle (GF) would join. My ping would go up to 80ish and hover about there.

What happens now: 60 when playing by myself, 300+ when she joins. Fluctuates from there up to 450, down to 80.

We're both connecting to the 'net via a 512 ADSL connection. We haven't changed providers, changed any network settings or anything like that. No downloads going, no cap reached, no throttling and no firewall changes. The only thing I can think of having changed is the version of NS. From 3.0 to 3.0.3 perhaps.

Anyone got a solution?

If you're using a router to connect to the outside world it may be going bad.

I was having the same problem with a router and cable. We reset the router and now everything appears to be fine.

Btw it was right after an NS update to 3.0 I think or 3.01

I had already tried rebooting the router, no effect.

I play with others from the same LAN and am not affected as you describe. It seems likely that it is a router issue, although I'm afriad I cannot offer a solution.

I would suggest you check Michelle's PC for any kind of bandwidth-hog, such as spyware or legitimate apps that are checking for updates over the net.
