Kettle korn shouldn't count. Hell, you may as well toss CrackerJacks in there too ... <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I actually go out into the fields by my house and grab a few cobs, and make my own. Its way better just plain. I've never tasted any bagged popcorn that tastes like the stuff from the husks. Good stuff ^_^
I hate popcorn, I've never had popcorn cinema, bagged, microwaved or made from scratch in a pan that didn't taste like, look and feel like polystyrene. Plus Cinema popcorn smells so bad in large quantities, but then again I guess mass produced foodstuffs anywhere smell bad.
I get the butter flavored microwave popcorn, but not the insane "THEATRE-STYLE SUPER BUTTERLICIOUS CHOLESTEROL EXPLOSION" type... pop it, add some extra salt, shake it up...
and then I let it stale. I like my popcorn chewy. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

For me, oil popped > air popped > microwave. For a while I couldn't tell the difference between the last two until I compared them side by side, and now I can't enjoy microwave anymore, because I like the other stuff better. I don't really care too much about the type, but I think yellow looks the nicest (I think white looks too small and unnaturally coloured, and jumbo looks too wierd). I don't mind eating it plain, but I prefer a little bit of salt/butter- but not too much. I find that most peple tend to like putting tremendous amounts of salt their popcorn, which makes it a little annoying to share sometimes.
Just out of curiousity, how many of you guys use flavacol (or even know what it is)?

We buy drinks, popcorn and some munchies as you do. Sit down, the lights go off, the curtain opens, the adverts begin, we start eating the popcorn, the realisation said popcorn is salted hits our brains, popcorn gets spat on the floor and we turn to each other in disgust - "WTH, salted popcorn ?"
Um... salted/sweet popcorn has been in every single cinema I've ever seen in scotland... are the ones down in england just weird or something? :p Course some also sell bags of the toffee stuff but it's too sugary for my tastes (I'm sweet enough already ^~ ).
You're right^ We have salted as well as other varieties down in the South, its just that everyone avoids salted popcorn coz it sucks <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
