My mother hates it with butter, so I never get to have it with butter. I should try it, just to see.

Home made in an old-school popping machine that predates myself, little pinch of salt and some freshly melted unsalted butter. Better than anything prepackaged or the stuff in the movie theatre (which dehydrates me enough to make me look like a prune).

    2:35 in the microwave.

    Otherwise:
    moderate amount of salt,
    light on the butter.

[Enough to make you thirsty after about 7 handfuls.]

I would like butter if what they served at the movies actually was butter... you really don't want to know what it is...

Salt (not too much) and various herbs. No butter, but oily from the sunflower oil I make them with. Popcorn HAS to be made in a pot, believe me. None of this hot-air stuff. As for the herbs: Oregano, basilikum, stuff like that. Basically, if it goes well on a pizza, it probably goes well with popcorn as well. Try it - you'll never want it any other way again.

I recommend a "butter-flavored" soybean oil "topping" with GOLD in the name.

Like "GOLDen top", or "GOLD'n touch"

The gold part comes from the orangy color, achieved with healthy beta carotene!

Make no mistake, popcorn topping is a healthy treat. Doctors recommend 4 8-oz servings a day.

    new!
    Mor GOLD Plus
A better butter substitute requiring no refrigeration. A creamy liquid topping at room temperature, with artificial flavoring and salt.

If it's liquid at room temperature, it's gotta taste good.

Never goes bad, because not even bacteria will eat it!

I like it with some salt (not too much though) and lots and lots of hot butter... I don't really eat popcorn often though. Most cinemas in the UK except the UCI ones don't offer butter and I usually go for a slightly more healthy (not by much) lil pot of haagen das strawberry cheesecake icecream :D

I like to make popcorn in the microwave, and while it's in there I melt some butter. Once it's done, I pour half the popcorn into a bowl, then pour half the butter ontop and salt a bit, then I pour the rest of the popcorn and butter and salt a bit more. Then I mix it around a bit and eat it. Win.

Well, I can see how very buttery popcorn might not be very healthy - but mine is! Added bonus! I mean, it's just corn, herbs and sunflower oil. And not a lot of sunflower oil either. Envy my 1337 popcorn skillz!

Popcorn here in the UK is mostly with toffee on it, so when I went to America I ended up spitting the popcorn out as its salted/buttered, which I hate with a passion. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Mmmmm toffee popcorn. The only kind I ever eat, on the rare occasion I will have popcorn. Once you've had it everything else tastes crap.

Butterkist Toffee popcorn in those little bags, mmm-mmm good.

The kind of popcorn you have to break through a solid crust of sugar to get to the popcorn. The kind where saying "Would you like some popcorn with your toffee?" makes sense.

    Mmm-mmm good indeed.

theres plenty of people working on improving/advancing/inveting medicines... some people want to know why their retarded kernels are unpopped.. so these scientists told us.. (even though i though everyone already knew that)
  • lolfighterlolfighter Snark, Dire Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15693Members
Well, perhaps I didn't make it clear enough: Many great discoveries have come from research into seemingly trivial things. We can never know what we will discover until we discover it. Therefore, no research is truly irrelevant. It may not lead to results, but we cannot know that in advance. So we research. It's human nature.

butter and salt please. how much depends on my mood.

The kind you make yourself with a pop corn popper (not micorwave) is even better but more time consuming.

And yea 2:35 does seem to be the magic number for when you do use the microwave.
And butter toffe popcorn is tasty too
