Courtesy of the St. Louis Science Center
On a recent visit to the St. Louis Science Center, I came across a kiosk featuring "The Natural Selection Computer Game." I thought others might enjoy the contrast between the Natural Selection we've come to know and love and the "other" Natural Selection. Enjoy!

EDIT: Can you believe some people think that natural selection\ or evolution are incorrect because god created the earth 6,000 years ago? Wow creationalism, dunno where to start with that one :-P.
It teaches us how bears become the dominant species in a north american forest..
but does it teach us how to properly camp sewer hive and raise your score 4 fold?
I THINK NOT!

I believe God created the universe.
Try starting in the Discussion forum.
So, how many times have those moths been used to explain evolution?

As do I jabba.
Trick is to go for the fast moths so the slow ones breed.
i had some 20 more instances of how evolution is incorrrect on paper, but i threw it away a while ago.
I believe science is about our best understanding of how God created the universe and that will always be changing, so I accept our current understanding for what it is.
I would also like to point out there is a remarkable simularity for the order of creation of the bible and the order of creation from an evolutionary perspective.
ps. I kept my views brief earlier to see what peoples reactions were like.
That was such an awesome game. You'd try to catch all of the moths as they fluttered around. Some were really fast and camoflauged, so they were hard to get. As you, the predator, took out the crappy moths, those with good survival traits would live and produce the next generation, until they were all a bunch of crazy super-fast nigh-invisible moths of DOOM.

People like you make people like me go crazy.
Adaption (micro-evolution) is a known fact, but evolution as the origin of species (macro-evolution) is so shakey its barely got a leg to stand on.
Anyone who believes animals spawned from a "primordial soup" and became intelligent, free-thinking creatures is essentially utilizing the same amount of faith as your average creationist.
Yet they claim this fact-lacking and decidedly flawed theory as a scientific fact. Fairly arrogant for science, which is meant to be about observation, not all-but pure speculation.
EDIT: One more thing, there is no shame in removing creationism from the picture and simply disagreeing with evolution. Just because it's accepted, it doesn't mean it's proven or true.
It doesn't have to be faith vs. evolution, it can simply be not-evolution. Decide for yourself. =P
People complain about the discussion forum, but this is exactly why we have one; so debates like this don't end up in otherwise harmless threads.

EDIT: Nevermind, i should read before i post :-P
Not to derail this even more, but are you so limited in thinking as to think that if someone could make things appear out of thin air, they couldn't make it look old?
WTH is with this derail? You aren't even close to the reasoning behind the issue and that has nothing to do with the thread at hand. Theres alot of science behind the creationist side as well, and if you really need to be bombarded with it go start a thread in the OT disscussion forums about it. The argument is going to be a long winded one to say the least.
if youre really that eager to open up your mind and enlighten us with your thoughts on the universe, there is a perfectly good discussions forum available.
why anyone would even try to argue against such unshakeable opinions beats me.
edit: oh. first someone tells me that evolution doesnt have facts backing it up. next, someone says that the creationist theory is just as provable as the evolution theory. finally, i am told that the creationist theory actually does have facts backing it up.
ps: swiftspear, join a bloody clan already.
fixed. i might sound hypocritical but spewing stuff like that is like throwing oil into a fire. just drop it already. no one cares, if someone answers you its because they love arguing about that stuff and posting all kinds of essays, which in turn leads to even more essays and a lot of bitching.
repeat: no one cares. its a personal. ****ing. matter.

Agreed, why can't everyone keep their religions to themselves? Quit knocking on others doors, quit going to the store and asking "Do you go to church?" or my favorite, walk to a stranger, "Do you worship Satan?!"
BOT I want that game, looks better then the Source engine
ie. There is a giant sandbox with air pumps and water pumps. So you can raise hills, and make rivers and stuff in it. They have a bunch of those plasma balls. Have 3 spotlights that are colored red, green, and blue. So you can play mixing the different colors on the wall. I went when I was around 10 or 11 and it made a hella impression on me, thought it was the coolest thing ever. I highly recommend going if you ever end up in that area.
Methane and lightning?
That's some serious case mod you've got going there.
Also, why do people still follow these beliefs, even in the knowledge that they caused almost every war before the 1800s.
There was only one creator of our species, the Earth... and I haven't much love for her either.
I believe that the big bang theory is correct, and that life evolved on this planet over millions of years. I also believe God created the universe, I mean how amazing is it that God can create just a large explosion and know that all of this would come of it, thats even more wonderful to me than it just suddenly appearing.
Ok heres a quite summary of the order of creation from the bible. (summarised by "day" of creation (I believe day here is used in a general sense to mean a time of work)
1. God creates the universe, the earth.
2. God creates the sky (atmosphere).
3. God creates land and vegatation.
4. God creates the moon, sun, and stars.
5. God creates sea creatures and then birds.
6. God creates animals and then man.
Ok im not going to say that the order presented by the bible is exactly identical to the one presented by evolution but they are pretty close. Picking out a few intersting bits...
Theres a fairly recent theory which basically says that the moon was created by a collision of another infant planet with the earth, so here we have the creation of the earth and then the creation of the moon. Man was the last to be created in the list which again evolution supports.
At the end of the day I dont believe that the bible was writern as a science book on how the universe as created, it was writen has a guide how to best live you life.
not really :p

then why do people continue to use it as one? because its true? that could prove to be difficult to.. prove.
