    The biggest difference is that the 510 can track 15g's of acceleration, while the 500 can only take 10. You will <i>never</i> come even remotely close to 10g's while using a mouse.

    Sorry, no help 4 u but I just wanted to say I'm very very happy with my new Logitech MX1000. At first there was a problem where the mouse pointer jumped down to the bottom of the screen randomly by itself, but SetPoint 2.x fixed that up ...

    mmm ... laser ...

    EDIT: Btw I was hoping it was a red dot laser so I could lock someone up and laugh manically as the laser beam moved slowly upwards towards their **** like in James Bond ... but it's invisible, damnit.

    meh, I went and got a logitech mx510. As far as the 1000 is concerned iIdoubt you'd be able to tell the difference.

    I'm using a Logitech MX310, works fine, is primarily black (buttons are silver), has mousewheel and two side buttons, corded, optical. Works fine and isn't too expensive ($20-$30)

    So true. Throw in the fact that it has 12 bindable buttons, and it stands head and shoulders above any other mouse I've ever owned.

    For under 60$ however, the 518 is your best bet.
