<div class="IPBDescription">They killed my baby!</div> Apart from being a crappy publisher... well, this is finally proof of how evil they really are. (I mean, they even bought out Sierra!)

I am a Tribes-Lover at heart. I have played the series since 1998.. and when I heard that "Tribes Vengeance" was in development in 2002/03, I jumped for joy....

Finally, a classic for the ages to rejuvinate a 1998 classic! I mean, it had upgraded graphics... and it was on the unreal engine. (Which had it's ups and downs).

The beta was released... it was kind of lackluster... but I shrugged it off. "It will be better when the full game is released!"

It wasn't.

I tried to like the game, I really did... but... it was just Unreal Tournament with Jetpacks.

And then... *Choir of nerdy angels* They announced a patch in late november... a patch of all patches... a patch to *FIX* this game! Maybe, just maybe... it would be good.

The patch was slated for early December.. that wasn't too long to wait. Well, December came and gone... so did Febuary... and so did most of March. No patch.

Then, finally on the 23rd of March, VU Games announced that it cancelled development of the patch, and had no further plans for the Tribes series.

*Sigh*

First they buy out Sierra.. now this. What next?

Way to ruin a good series, VUG.

It's sad, it did look pretty cool and the single player/multiplayer demos played pretty well. But that's what you get for dispanding Dynamix, eh?

Meh, who cares. Tribes 1 and 2 are free, and they're better than any stupid games that anyone else will ever make.

Sure, they're evil, but they're nowhere near as bad as EA.

EA is the devourer of all that is good, and they've eaten more than their fair share of "babies." It's widely known that they are the publisher that cares more about quantity and money than quality. Even more than the others, like Microsoft. At least they try, FFS.

I don't see why people complained about Tribes: Vengeance being "UT with jetpacks" I've played Tribes since it was new, and popular, and I still loved Tribes: Vengeance's beta. I've noticed a trend. UT was great, and people wanted a new UT. UT2k3? It was a new game, so vets whined, screamed, and flailed. They wanted UT with improved graphics and nothing more. A waste of development time. The same thing happened with Tribes 2 to a smaller extent, and with T:V it's been the same, except VU are bastards who have murdered the greatest game franchise on the face of the planet.

EDIT: Tom - in my experience, Microsoft games are quality over quantity. Freelancer, the AoE series, etc.

I'm glad there's someone out there that shares my opinion on EA. Ugh, what they did to the 007 franchise just burns me up...

Truly, I still don't care, but for everyone who says Tribes: Vengeance felt like UT2k4 with jetpacks, when I played UT2k4 (which came out before T:V) I was screaming left and right that Onslaught was a Tribes ripoffs without jetpacks. Nobody listened, and then Tribes comes out and they say it's an Unreal ripoff WITH jetpacks. Foo.

AFAIK VU has owned Sierra for a long long long long time (maybe over a decade?), its just they never put their VU brand on things until they killed the Sierra label.

EA is Wal-Mart of video games, gobbling up other companies, creating nothing new, puting other people out of buisness and than stealing their ideas...

Activision FTW (well at least their games dont feel rehashed)

I like Ubisoft because they have some quality games, like Far Cry and the Rainbow Six serie- scratch that. Rainbow Six has been going downhill ever since the Xbox version of Raven Shield came out, and with Lockdown it's going to reach a new low. And what's this about Blizzard? I thought we were talking about publishers, not developers.
