    MedHead's problem is that his versions are not legit and proper, quite simply. It's not whether they work or not (and hey, what would his problem be if they didn't work? Surely he could tell his family THAT no problem), it's the fact that they are not the proper DVDs. Perhaps MedHead, like, just doesn't LIKE warez? Thought of that possibility?

    Shh! Shut up! Don't tell MedHead!

    Actually, I mis-typed. He was in China...now he's on a trip. Visiting family. Next time, I'll post when I am awake. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    In the case that you DO tell your family they are boot leg and want to get some authentic copies..

    Cheap, legitimate DVDs
    <a href='http://dvdpacific.com/' target='_blank'>DVD Pacific</a>
    <a href='http://dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=573093' target='_blank'>Season 6 for$40.86</a>
    <a href='http://dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=610583' target='_blank'>Season 7 for $44.06</a>

    Infinitum refered me to them earlier this year when I asked #NS where I could get a fairly cheap copy of Chobits DVD 7 for a friend.
    In the end I also decided to pick up Band of Brothers and Leathal Weapon 1 and 2.
    I was a bit worried that due to the fairly low prices they might have been bootlegs.. but all 9 discs I received were infact legitimate copies with barcodes and everything.

    It sucks you got ripped off.. and the moral dillema isn't too great either. Hope it works out in the end.

    Doomaniac can confirm this.
    I was fooled into buying a bootlegged original Macross. It came with an absolutely gorgeous package and box arts (looks incredibly authentic with barcode, copyright, and **** like that), and absolutely horrendous subtitles.

    Ebay failed me.

    On related notes, an authentic REAL Return of the King DVD region 3 with features and commentary is being sold in BKK for $4.00. Piracy actually brought the real product price down for a change.

    My God. You're a better man than I Medhead. I aspire to be that upright a person.

    I don't have any problems aquiring dodgy dvds, but I wouldn't like receiving them as a present, especially when they're believed to be the real thing...can't you see that?

    That's the thing. I wouldn't care either way, so long as it plays alright. So in that, you people are more upright than I.

    Ok. I talked with my dad (Fraud Supervisor for ICE) and he says that the only thing you could really do is report it to e-bay. Do not call the FBI, they have better things to do than fake DVDs. Just enjoy the DVDs, he says.

    Sorry m8.

    Enjoy the Stargate-SG1 DVDs, though. I might have to get me a copy. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I'd like to report it to eBay, but in doing so I'm afraid they might very well alert my parents to it: I don't want to have to tell them about it, and having them find out with an impersonal email is worse.

    Those are pretty swanky bootleg DVDs, right there. The ones i've gotten in the past are just VCDs or a blank (no sticker) DVD with the film name written on them in black marker pen, stuck in those cheap plastic CD bag things.

    Sometimes there's even a black and white photocopy of the DVD case slipped in there, too.

    Then inform ebay of your situation. I'm sure they would be willing to keep it quiet.
