    the pic looks good but I don't really like it that way I like the other 3!

    the comets don't fly that much randomlike enough to show realism.

    it would look way better if you remove those comets! you should also remove the failed lensflair effect in the sun (I think you took it from a pic). I know that myself because I took alota lensflair photos with my digicam and the result was the same. look at this one here i took in finland in 2003:

    the same little black piece in the sun.

    -edit-
    or am I wrong and this little black piece in the sun in your wallpaper is also a comet ?

    did such project involve homeworld/homeworld 2? cause it seems to.

    Realness: The "comets" are actually like... space missiles or something, that sort've thing. The black dot in the middle is a ship which kinda came out badly.

    Vader: Nope, I posted it on the Homeworld art forums though..

    I think the comets look awesome and that dot in the sun is obviously a ship.

    My only beef is that those asteroids seem a little flat.

    I thought the "missiles" are comets <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> because the title is "planetfall" I thought there was another planet collapsing or becoming destroyed and these are the rests of it flying around with highspeed

    the planet looks more like a metal plate... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    the missle trails are too straight
    the chunnks of rocks looks cartoony
    the lens flare is cool
    the planet overcast is cool
    the background with all the glittery blue stuff is cool

    The flat appearance might be caused by the shadowing on the whole border of the planet instead of just the part of the border that is in the nighttimezone.
