I don't have very important things to say, but I could give some advice. I do not know Obst very good, I don't understand his problems very much. I myself had been in such a situation before(but not so bad), and eventually the right thing to do was just keep going on. Keep living your life, even if it may be just a life on the internet. Internet can be a hard place, but also a good place. Take these forumers for examplpe. There are enough social activities to do with understanding ppl.
Don't think too much about the psycho stuff, you already thought enough. Just go play some game, read an informative book, like psychology or science. Keep living your life even if you aren't happy right now, the thing is that you won't be sad. That's enough for now. That's also how I life my life right now (me no social life in real world -_-)
I wouldn't describe depression as the suppression of emotion. I'm no psychologist, so I'm not an authority in this matter. I've reached these conclusions based on my experence and my attempt at understanding, and later replicating in code, human intelligence.
Most emotion is generated from memories with an associated emotional state, though there are obvious "built-in" exceptions. The subconscious is the only thing that suppresses memories because of an associated emotion. Your brain make decisions based purely on your emotion, but you can consciously invoke memories to alter your emotional state to produce a desired decision.
A normal person in a normal emotional state is very receptive to emotional memories. Hence, it is fairly easy for a person to consciously control themselves. However, in cases of drastic chemical imbalance, or even very stressful situations, the person isn't able to consciously manipulate their emotions, and will more or less be out of control.
The nature of the consciousness is a bit of a mystery to me. It doesn't appear to have a physical presence, especially in brain scans which simply "light up" regions of the brain with no common connection. This is why I believe in the existance of an afterlife, though I doubt all the moral connotations that religions like to associate with such things.

For a start, the word is spelt "inco<b>n</b>gruity". If you're going to be pretentious, the least you could do is have some idea of what it is that you are saying.
I fail to see how I'm being an "annoyance" by disagreeing with you. Perhaps you're just mad that I've still got something to say after your attempts at being a moderator at me.
It's curious that you seem to think that as you have "real life experiences", that must mean I don't. Just because I'm not bringing them up in a thread about <i>someone else's</i> problems, does not mean that I can't have "real life experiences" myself.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I'd also like to point out when did I credit myself with many years of experience?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You didn't. That was sarcasm directed at the fact that you were acting like your knowledge was the be-all and end-all of depression cases.

Once again, you didn't, although I don't see how that is relevant to anything I've said.
That's probably all I have to say on the matter. If you're still angry at me for disagreeing with you, then perhaps you can talk to your desk about it, as it probably cares more than I do.

Zing!
I can only assume that you consider yourself to be a community, because you're the only person I've disagreed with here, and my last post was actually defending Obst. How unhelpful of me!
Some of your replies in this thread have been extremely unpleasant Thursday.
Personally I don't think anybody should give advice on issues such as this unless they are qualified, because it can end up causing more harm than good.
Whether or not you have experience with depression Thursday, your experience is unlikely to be of any use to Obst since phsychiatric problems are rarely similar in terms of causes and effects.
You may have talked your girlfriend out of suicide, and you may have helped her become more stable. This does not qualify you to judge Obst, Obst's problems, whether his problems are real or fake, or whether his problems are more or less important than yours.
Posting something like 'this is attention seeking' or 'my problems were much more important than this' is horrible behaviour, you of all people should know how precarious people are when they're confused about matters such as this.

I know that this is very simple poetry, but meh. Just one. THERAPIST. I'm not even joking now, you're either really depressed or really attention seeking, both of which require professional help. If Germany is anything like the UK, you can simply ask your family doctor for a referal.

Obst, if you truly want to change, that **** "I suck at life" in your avatar and signature aren't going to help. They're going to make you look like an idiot.
If you're like me, and want to see a psych, but are unable to because of your parents or otherwise, then figure out something to keep you sane. It may not be the right thing to do, but if it works, then just do it. Try getting a LiveJournal, I think I'm going to do that right now. I want help, but can't get it, so maybe people on the internet can help. I just don't know how, it seems impossible.

Edit 2: Also it's nice to see how a helpful IRC operater in the community is being unhelpful to his community. Nice reputation you are giving NS and UWE.

You didn't. That was sarcasm directed at the fact that you were acting like your knowledge was the be-all and end-all of depression cases.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->When did I say my only experience is my girlfriend?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Once again, you didn't, although I don't see how that is relevant to anything I've said.
That's probably all I have to say on the matter. If you're still angry at me for disagreeing with you, then perhaps you can talk to your desk about it, as it probably cares more than I do.
NINJA EDIT FOR JUSTICE OF MANY VARIETIES:

Zing!
I can only assume that you consider yourself to be a community, because you're the only person I've disagreed with here, and my last post was actually defending Obst. How unhelpful of me!
EDIT
Toothy: Note I said above I have taken a U-Turn as the thread has progressed.
You'll always be Thursday to me, Thursday.
Well, in fact I am doing some sort of primitive poetry in some moments.
Here is one of the most recent ones (someone please run it through that "Babelfish" thingy people talk of):
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Dein Herz schlägt schwer
Es will nicht mehr
Einen Stoß entfernt
Dann bist du entkernt
Deine Seele wankt
Dein Körper Schwankt
Deine Augen schwer die Blei
Du sehnst dein Ende Herbei
Deine Atmung flach
Dein Blut ein Bach
Mein Messer gleitet durch die Nacht
Und hinterlässt einen blutigen Schacht
Dein Kopf sinkt leise
<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->´
I know that this is very simple poetry, but meh.
In addition, the day I arranged a surprise phonecall between one of my classmates and his gf (they met in IRC-Chat, and she was afraid of calling him because she was afraid of him not liking here voice, so he was getting nervous which is why [out of a mood] I wanted to help him [to give my life at least a little sense] and started to dig into her and her issues with her voice, which climaxed in her gaining enough confidence to call him) she sent him this picture to express her emotions:

(The text says "For You")
When I saw that pic I felt very, very strange and created this out of it:

Any, ehm, opinions on that? <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I'm not even joking now, you're either really depressed or really attention seeking, both of which require professional help. If Germany is anything like the UK, you can simply ask your family doctor for a referal.

i would hold the pistol a bit different.. maybe with 2 hands...
Oh well.
