Random Mouse Lag

<div class="IPBDescription">tried different mice</div> Im having terrible mouse lag.. moving aroudn it will just start skipping anywhere.. i thought it was my mouse, so i beat it and broke it, and got a new one.. same problem, but i thought since it was wireless, it would lag anyways, so i got a regular laser mouse, same thing.

and, its only this version. i've played just about every othe rversion there is, and it's never been like this. and its not like i have a crummy system, i have a geforce6800. its not server lag, either, my ping is about 30-60 most of the time, and when im lagging, it doesnt jump high. i thought it was after the reinstall, i had to reset my inet speed from 56k to dsl, but that didnt work either.

i know of other people that have had similar problems, and the server that i often play on also has problems.

bad build? code? some wierd bug?

i dunno what it is.

it cant be any of them.. because i havent changed a single thing other than updating ns from b5 to 3.0. no new nforce drivers, nothing different on my mouse, same sensitivity that i always use..

its a game issue, i know it is... it happens with a lot of sound or action... jetpacks, cloakers, etc...

and i know im not the only person having this issue... its just really strange because my fps dont drop, nor does my ping go up.

and its only NS.. i've been playing sims 2, KoToR, hl2, silent hill 4, etc, and they all work just fine.. ive killed all the processes i can stand to kill and i still just cant seem to fix this...

I have this exact same thing as I posted in a different post, and it doesn't happen in any other game either, and I don't remember it happening in b5. I've also tried all the same things.

I'm running a radeon 9200SE 128mb. Except I'm suspicious that the problem is the fact that I can only run in OpenGL and D3D won't work for me. But still, it happens nowhere else and only since 3.0 Final.

it has to do with the mouse or keyboard drivers, i have a microsoft office keyboard that has a built in scroll wheel and copy, cut paste buttons on the left side. In order to use those extra features i have to install intellitype drivers though.

Once i install it however, i get the keyboard/mouse lag, the only fix i have found is to uninstall the software and thus i can no longer use the built in scroll wheel/ cut, copy, paste buttons 8(

All, the problem is normally drivers. Zojakownith had the best idea, in that he noted what happens with the drivers installed, and check to see if uninstalling them made any difference.

I personally have had the mouse problem only with Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, but only with the Logitech MouseWare drivers uninstalled, and the mouse connected to USB. Either one of installing the MW drivers, or connecting the mouse to PS/2 fixed the issue. It would appear that XP has an issue with certain specialist mice...

Simple solution. Set the resolution of screen to 640x400.

I always had the problem of hair getting in my optical lens. if you have a ball mouse, scrape the gunk from the rollers. also unscreqw the lens and polish it with glass cleaner. If you plan on buying a mouse, I suggest the Logitech mx510 (40 inches per second with no lag, 10 buttons) but if you are on a budget, get the 15 diollar air-cooled nyco one, my friends all have one and love it.

Swift, you know where of you speak. Logitech's MX510 is a fantastic mouse, been using mine for several months now, very comfortable to use, and even anti-RSI (the mouse fits perfectly in the "Gamer's Claw", as my boss calls it). Nyco's AirFlow USB Mouse (To give it's full title) is a good trade off between price, and performance. Costs around £15 on the street, 850dpi optics, internal AirFlow system, to stave off Sweaty Palm Syndrome (you all know what I mean, no self-pleasure jokes please).
Either mouse will give you a good, reliable start for a gamer's mouse.

Question to all... Anyone tried Logitech's MX1000 Laser mouse? Have had a few people say things about it, and had many people ask me about it, but never actually used one. Have toyed with the display model, but it has no optics. Anyone used one, and can lend me you opinions on it would be most appreciated...

Only problem i could ever have with the Logitech mx510 is that I used it so much, event he slightest moisture from your fingers or natural body oil makes the button slippery, LoL, but that's no real problem. The best mouse I ever had. Also, now I think about it, the skippage could be from your optical mouse running over a part of your desk/mouse pad and going crazy. If you have some money, grab a RatPadzGS (What I use) or an everglide. If worse comes to worse, use a pain of glass with paper behind it (so the paper doesnt wear down your mouse treaders.) Oh, and glass owns.

I have not tried the laser mouse, but I never trust anything that runs off batteries. I mean, what happens if I forget to charge it (for I am very forgetful)... No usage of the computer? psh. anyhoo...
