It hasn't been <i>officially</i> announced, but Flayra directly stated in a recent interview that they were going to start work on porting NS to Source soon. It may be a direct port at first, but I know that there is stuff that Flayra would really like to implement that he can't on the aging HL1 engine.

There is also going to be a Natural-selection II, on a game engine of Flayra's choice.

*EDIT* Here's the interview, by the way.

Charlie Cleveland - We haven't spent much time with the SDK yet (been too busy with current NS development), but we've started to talk about NS:Source.  We're probably going to start porting it shortly after 3.0/3.1.  Instead of taking many months to create on big version, we will probably port just the game over first, then start redoing artwork, maps and gameplay a piece at a time.  We want to release smaller versions more frequently, and that's why 3.1 and the first NS:S version will come relatively quickly.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

You can find HL for much cheaper than $29... The game is 6 years old.

That sticky about NS:Source in I&S needs to be duplicated over here.

Short version, search before posting about NS:S. It's likely been answered. And HL1 is a cheap buy... I can buy it off the shelf (no bins for me!) for $9.99.

In any case, the thread seems to have been answered. Thereby, to avoid NS:S speculation-spam...
