Wow... am I the only one who remembers Tiny Toons? This isn't the first time Warner has done this, so I don't see why you're freaking out. And I'm pretty sure most of you were young enough at the time to enjoy Tiny Toons.
How about Chip & Dale -> Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers? How about Goofy -> Goof Troop. It happens all the time, so get over it.
Looney Tunes was never intended for kids. Its comedy houses a very powerful political and social commentary.
Yes, the new cartoon sounds like crap... but so does any other recent cartoon I've heard about.
This is stupid. But I don't really care, because there are plenty of shows that are far worse (no, I'm serious) on television. Also, I never found any of the Looney Toons funny, probably because they're not. X-Men, though, was pretty good. Batman Beyond showed some promise, but it came out after my time.
In short, this doesn't matter because everything in Saturday morning cartoons is retarded and sucks these days.

Please don't trash talk the Japanese show for the mess that is Power Rangers. It's a whole different beast from what's shown in US. The US version was plagued with corny set, ludicrous dialogue and plots (even after compared to the Japanese supersentai), excessive shouting (during the fight scene), and teenage anst themes. While the Japanese version is a TASKFORCE with somewhat drama, the US version is kiddy laser show with kids shouting "yah, ha, yah".
Any chance we could take up WB on child-abuse charges? I'd take the same stance that I did with the Star Wars make overs (for the original trilogy): The only people who'll care, probably have the originals (or in the case of this, most of the originals) anyway, so there's nothing to moan about.
But that is just <b>stupid.</b> It even looks stupid. And evil. Can't wait to hear the voice of it.
And I agree with Gem that Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls and various other cartoons (mostly Cartoon Network produced cartoons, i've noticed) of the like are pwn. Also Megas XLR which I finally watched at 5am when I couldn't sleep (night before last) is far more pwn than I thought it'd be from watching the adverts. Made me laugh a lot more than stuff like F.R.I.E.N.D.S (or whatever they tried to do with the name) ever could.
MegasXLR, Family Guy, Futurama, and ATHF all pwn. Teen Titans is nice, if for nothing else than just the way they so openly bastardize anime <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> And American Dad shows promise. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Is there a better article or source for this story? I know the news times had it on hte front page today, but on their website they have a very small picture of all the characters, and don't mention anything about the new name.

It's like some kind of terrible tribal drawing, I wonder what the toys of these are going to be like, because we all know they will come. Caution: Very pointy, can impale small children
Thinking about that last part, Im not so against the idea.

And power rangers was absolutely horrible from day 1.
It was based off some korean show that a korean friend of mine showed me once.

Quoted for emphasis.
Seriously, if I have any kids in the future, I'm getting them good ol' Looney Toons tapes and record them on DVD or something.
Seriously, New != Cool.
Although Captain Scarlet has been given a makeover and is all CG'd now but its apparently rather good...
And Dangermouse will never die!
Come on Penfold!
