Over here in Singapore, Singlish is <b>very</b> common, its the way of life here, perfectly normal actually. Almost everything has some sort of <i>Singlish</i> in it. One very simple -and obvious example- is with the various media types. TV, Radio, down to our daily paper sometimes. U either read about it, or hear it.
Theres been alot of debates going on around on how to tackle the problem, but our governments attempts for change and improvement isnt very encouraging. Hell, now they may even consider teaching Melayu (Malay Language) as a 3rd language (very much due to our neighbours race).
When u have a combination of different races living here, with differing languages and a dozen other <i>dialets</i> (trust me u dont want to hear those...it an't pretty) u have <i>Singlish</i>.

It's rather simple ; their English standard is WAY below that of Singapore. Heck, my school is one of the worst schools out there, but teaches the best English, for some odd reason....
