    I could go and post the very same reply to about 1700 of your posts.

    You give people map feedback and pretty much only report the stuff you dislike, yet you clearly can't handle any negative feedback even when people present it with positive feedback too.

    Your map looks... weird...

    I really can't tell what's wrong (or good) about it, but overall it's just... <i>weird</i>.

    Do you mind if I use same or similar value on my map?

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Spot lights point directly down, although the majority of the spot lights in the map are angled, no targetting entities used.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Alrighty, Just wondered because I used to target info_nulls until I realised Pitch and X Y Z really worked, I also only noticed in VHE 3.5 if you place info_null with spot targeting it then reload map you can then take the info nulls and target names out cause hammer sets the angles. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    Did you also spot that as well?

    BTW, If you use an env_gamma in your map I found 1.2 is a good average value to use. Instead of lowering your lights brightness and see if the map comes out with more dramatic lighting that isnt overbright.

    Nice to meet you to random person, joining in with the bashing of a forum member in a thread for his map and comments. Thanks, I don't know who you are and don't care, the fact your a playtester and being stupid is worse. Quite frankly I see why some people decided to leave the community after the display of off topic comments I have received in this thread.

    SgtBarlow: Go ahead, my values are similar to the ones found in ns_nirvana.

    Since the map is the object of ciscussion, and not Thursday's way of giving or taking critisism, I stick to the mapping part.

    Screenhot 1 looks quite interesting light-, texture- and brushwork wise, even thought the spotlights on the rear wall seem to be a bit off, since the lights for that comes from the one at the ceiling. So why would be the spotlight cone be that way down?
    Shot 2 I like pretty much. A nive variation from red, blue and white light. But the pipe which is going along the wall seems a bit strange with the highlight of the light.
    The third picture.. ugh. Bit too bright for my taste, and the details on the walls repeat on both sides. And why do the wires on the ceiling end in the keypad of the texture on the right side <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    The last picture is very nice again. I like the rocks and the center light alot.

    Overall it feels a bit strage.. It somehow feels like.. four pictures of different maps. Maybe it's different when you actually play it, but... meh..
    Got a layout plan of the map?

    Your - possessive.
    You're - you are.

    The fact that I'm a playtester has no relevance, I map and I read these forums. Your definition of 'random' is intriguing.

    So its okay for a random unprovoked attack on me? No, please refrain from commenting in the thread if that's all you are going to do. I appreciate comments on the map, as asked. Thanks.

    Screenshot 2:to fade(blink), and onos unfriendly with all those railings, and can be problematic for skulks when marines can shoot through the railings but skulk can't hit through it.

    Screenshot 3:Looks quite skulk wallwalk unfriendly, and no obstacles to hide behind, maybe 1 grate at 1 spot that can hide a skulk, maybe it be open so you can snuck in it?

    I been around NS scince 2 months after the release of 1.04 and hardly viewed the forums nor registered up until November 2003 because of all the stupid rubbish and slagging off I saw in this community put me off wanting to join it, I personally these days keep my precense to an absolute minimum and try to keep posts to a minimum.
    Im currently working on 4 NS maps 2 of with aimed at official inclusion 1 been worked on for about a year now and have released 2 but one of them privetly and will probably never include this community in any of my projects for development and feedback, I instead develope and play test my maps within two clans that have good nicely sized communities where there is no slagging etc and so far has been far far more productive than most of this community can ever be (A scertain majority of individuals spoil it for the rest). On a very rare occasion like I have in the Post Your screenshots thread would I post anything realateing to my projects and posted the screenshots purely 1. To put a small point accross and 2. For other mappers inspriation.
    I probably may not even release any of my future maps to this community for many reasons.

    I feel I may do more underground type work for NS maps as I do maps for other mods. Quite alot of work in progress is not on my website either.

    Edit: For example, I have a NS:C map with a strong Doom 3 theme going at the moment <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Have you played NS?
    Have you seen how totally staggeringly beatiful and well-crafted some of the maps are?

    Your map isn't bad, but you shouldn't be surprised if the reception is lukewarm at best.
    And no #nsmapping person would ever let an unsaid joke remain unsaid, so don't take it personally.

    It's the immaturity level which bugs me, nothing else.

    Compared to official maps, mines crap. It's only end products that should be compared, as development and fragments of construction are never a true reflection.

    Jokes = Immature
    PT's who don't agree with you = Immature
    NSMapping = Immature
    Fun = Immature
    Pretty much anyone that doesn't agree with you = Immature.

    Also, it wasn't unprovoked, you did pretty much turn your nose up at us after we made a joke (get it? joke? those things that're funny) about Danger Alert Systems.

    Edit: New pics please.

    <3 goes out to Thursday because a couple shots look decent. That really bright hallway on the other hand... There's somthing about the textures, oh, and the lighting.

    better than I could do.

    nice work.

    one thing though, as everyone else has said, the hallway in the 3rd screenshot is TOO BRIGHT and I have my moniter set DARK!

    I do not gammahack.

    Ok, back on topic.

    I just wish I could map this well.

    Looks like a mess. The texturing is just way too chaotic. Combine that with chaotic lighting and you've got yourself.. well, something. I'm not saying it's bad. I love the fourth picture. The light is great. But the other just seem too crowded. Also, everything but screenshot 4 seems so bright. You should tone it down a bit.

    An updated corridor, a new corridor and a hive. Just a few notes:

    - Updated corridor, yes I realise the white light is still a bit too bright <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    - Hive, it's bright which is what I want. No more major detail can be added due to higher r_speeds from different angles. Main reason for high r_speeds is due to the entrance/exits and both being in the players FOV.

    i suggest u close some sides or put some kind of wall to save r_speeds and can up the details.
