The First Days Of Ns...

<div class="IPBDescription">Do you remember?</div> Yeah, I've been lurking around since NS was first released... I remember that it was released at Halloween.. and I also remember waiting a bit to install NS v1.0.

I fired it up, logged onto good ol' WON (*Sniff*), and joined a map. (The name currently escapes me - but it's the one with the sewers and the dual Resource Nodes). Anyways, I'm in the marine spawn.. and as soon as I join the game - I see an Onos charge and mow down a whole squad of my Teammates.

Thats it. I was hooked. (Not too mention the lumpyness in my pants at such a site).

I didn't sleep for two days after that. (Not because I was scared, but because I was too busy playing NS).

Thanks to NS, I have also become the Concept Artist that I am today. (Example)

    I remember reading up on this Mod before it made a release. I thought how awesome it was and I wonder if they have a fanbase and a forum. That was the day I had an Academic Decathlon trip so 3 days and a few to many "No Doze" / (other assorted) pills later, I had forgotten all about it.

    Still, it was fun watching all the random media that had been released around that time.

    NS has gave me hours of enjoyment, and of course made me a new bunch of friends (and in some cases enemies!).

    Ah how I remember the days where the Onos was just so damn scary, now it's like a cute little puppy dog <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

    I became a much better level-designer, and I'm starting to take a much more in-depth view in game-design thanks to NS, the community of course has been the biggest help.

    I remember staying up to wee hours in the morning (read 1pm) playing NS... thats when rounds could literally last days on end. (I remember leaving for school and then coming back home to rejoin the same battle).

    Also, NS helped me right a series of stories (They're not very good, but still) - it got me to do something remotely educational.

    And also, whenever I play NS.. I get this.. awesome feeling - like I'm actually in the game - it has a great immersion affect. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    My dad saw me playing ns and was like "can I have a go?" so i said yes stupidly. and then he saw an onos and had a heart attack.     I remember the first time I installed and played NS. I think it was... Bast? No idea, I was lost either way. But it was a fun experience and I played for a week or two. Then it all weared down for me. Played some 1.4 and then stopped. Tried 2.0, didn't like it anymore.

    My first NS experience was on release day. My computer had screwed up and I spent hours trying to fix it. I finally got it running late in the evening, so I reinstalled HL, installed NS and went straight in to the game.

    My first map ever was eclipse. I was an alien. (God, I love that map.) I remember seeing humbaba there, but that was it. (Where did he get off to, anyway?)

    I remember eventually going gorge and building tons of chambers in a random hallway. Some other guy walks by and says "What the f*** are you doing?" over voice comm. I turned to him and said "Building chambers." And he left.

    NS helped me mature in so many ways, its crazy. From my rather crappy beginnings as a wannabe clanner(go eBe!!!), then getting to know and understand modeling, learning to screw with photoshop, and eventually evolving into a love for programming(I'm actually getting somewhere!), and now being an accomplished clanner, even if its only an Omega clan.

    Not to mention, those in the OT forums back when we were still "The Family"(or at least as I like to call it) helped me through the time that my dad had a heart attack, and even helped me with girl troubles. They also got me used to finding out *every* bit of information about the gaming industry, and becoming the self proclaimed "True Gamer" that I am today.
