Oh yes, I would also like to add one minor thing about your vette. Even with 390 HP to your crank, you are still losing around 60 - 70 hp to your wheels. About the same with the torque. Which is why Talesin and myself have fun with racing little V8's with "huge amounts" of hp. Rawar! (Same goes for any vechile you buy whatever the HP rating is, subtract the 60-70 and that is the real wheel hp, from there you can almost calculate your 1/4 speed. Granted it could be off by as much as a few seconds if you really are horrible at the starting gate.

I didn't intend on starting a ricer/musclecar or 4 vs 8 cyl war. You guys have nice rides and I bet they are quick as hell. I just wanted to jab Talesin cause he was poking fun at vettes Wonder what Flayra is driving? No, Cyndane... the white one is the GSX. The red one is the GS-T (pictures earlier in the thread). Just the GSX is only badged as a GS. ^_^ Possibly why those Mustangs were so shocked.

Meh, I show interest. And the details are really what makes the car. I've still been called a gearhead on occasion.

As for the engine thing, I really can't get into high-displacement engines. I much prefer turbo or supercharged L4 or F4 engines. Good gas mileage for the most part, usually a much lighter car, and they're a lot cheaper and easier to modify and tune. Not to even mention the fact that with fewer pistons comes less chance that any two will be THAT far apart in regards to compression (or lack thereof).

Hehe.. 3rd gen RX-7 FTW. Personally I prefered those, even though their engine left something to be desired. I thought they were better looking then the previous models.

I do agree with you Talesin, something with less cylinders is much easier to modify and continue to work on. As for the compression, its also much easier to rise/lower it over all the cylinders so if you add a larger turbo/supercharger you don't have to worry much about blowing a rod. :-)

Ninja edit. ( I know all of the 90's Eclupses were badged as GS's, usually in small writing underneath the badge it says turbo charged injection, usually but not always.)

I'll look, but I doubt it. And the FC and FD (FC is second-gen, FD is third-gen). The FD is the curvy one; the FC looks kinda like a DeLorean.

And only first-gen (AFAIK.. and not FC or FD) came with a Wankel engine. The FC and FD both had redesigned cores based on the wankel, but they did not maintain the 100% free-rotating core.

And before I go up to a bigger turbo, I have a lot of work to do. Honestly, I need to grab a boost controller, pop this thing up to pumping out 10-12psi for now, though the stock can theoretically put out 14-16. It just tapers off at the high end to act as a governor and prevent the engine from being blown by a newbie driver. Before that I need to hook up the aftermarket boost gauge though, and shortly afterward I need to drop in an upgraded fuel pump. :b

But even before that, I found where it was leaking; the rebuilders did good work. It wasn't the engine. It appears that the radiator has a pinhole leak somewhere. I was going to get it and the intercooler replaced anyway, but this gives me a better reason. ^_^

Well I finally have some decent news. After the depressing debacle with having to sell the lovely talon I will finally be getting another one at some point either this spring or this summer. Hopefully the sooner, the better. I shall update more as I get more information.

Shame, the Mitsubishi Shootout is coming up on April 19th. I'm going to see about getting the Drift bumper, clear front corners (since one is broken), a HID kit (ACTUAL one, not the BS crap that ricers toss on), and some vinyls cut.

Heh. Decided on a name for the car, too. Invader. On a related note, some of those vinyls are going to be spoofs of stuff like ACT, Venom, HKS and GReddy logos.. done up in Irken.
Got a friend who can cut vinyl, so I'm going to hand him a few bucks.. probably use the triangle-A style script (like on a Saleen) for the back window marquee.

Need to call the dealer tomorrow and get a price on a new rim, then a couple of friends to see if they can do better. After that, I'll know what size tires I'll be shopping for. In the meantime, I should be able to take the car down to a suspension shop and get the blown shock replaced, too.

I should also know by tomorrow or Monday if they finally got the damn engine to stop leaking oil... they said it was fixed, but I'm hesitant, given that they've said that four times so far.

After that, I can start thinking about other neat stuff... red underseat glow, as well as red ground effect; blue is way too overdone on white cars.
Also, have a friend who does plastic blow-injection moulding, so may replace the rear 'MITSUBISHI' bezel between the taillight assemblies with an imprinted white... again Mitsubishi, but in Irken.

Performance-wise, a FMIC to really set off the Drift bumper would be way too pricey; the 2Gs have it easy, about $600 and it's done. 1G, the cheapest I've found (for non crackerjack box crap) is a cool grand. Still also need to get the aftermarket boost gauge hooked up, and toss on a boost controller... and a damn turbo timer. Waiting out with the car for five minutes is getting old real fast.

Then start thinking about a car alarm. :b

Car alarm at wrong end of list.

It's already got a passive alarm.. if the door, hood or hatch is opened without using the key in the driver's side door lock (or ignition), the alarm goes off. I just hate the living crap out of those active alarms that go off if a ricer with a loud muffler rolls by. :b

Anyway, started designing the graphics.. have larger versions, but I'm still working on finding the Saleen font for the back window marquee. :b

Woo! Took the Eclipse down to Vodie's, and they looked it over. Apparently it's just fine. The other interesting bit of information ran after I was idling off, waiting for the motormounts on the GS-T to get fixed. Apparently the fronts are four-way adjustables. The end caps that I thought were a part of the shock cover are just a dustcap for the adjust-set screw. Just gotta get a jack and learn what each of the settings actually does. :b

So now I'm back to getting new rims/tires, the new bumper (I'll probably go with the Drift front bumper, as I have to get one anyway and dealership wants $40 less for the OEM unpainted), and some clear corners ($15 on eBay, as opposed to $45 OEM, again) on the front marker lights, as my turn signals aren't housed there, so are 100% legal.
