When you can show your back bumper to corvettes Talesin then we can run our cars together. That would be a very fun race.

Depot: I shall take pictures of the little cavy when I get home tonight, since I haven't drove it for three days now.

WoT, with a stock 4g63t in the Mirage, I'll be pushing a 7:1 lb/hp ratio. Better than a Porsche 911 TT, and running low 12s and high 11s.. due to the traction problems involved with that low of a ratio. $400 in basic upgrades will boot it from 210hp to 280 with ease. Once it gets over 350, I'll have to look at the AWD conversion... which will still only hold it to 500hp. At that point even with slicks you're doing four-wheel burnouts, and running sevens.

Dammit, Bozo... the engine and tranny (assuming a turbo) is worth $1800 for the core charge alone. Then again, I only shelled out $900 for mine.

Then don't upgrade it and we can run even together

Or.. upgrade it and I'll upgrade to AWD and we can still run together.

Tell me about it. It was the first year they went that big (I think) and the engine had TWO crankshafts, the second one counter-rotating to eliminate vibrations.

If memory serves me correctly, the 900 Kawis PWNd back then.

Sorry, I blew past four <whinyvoice>Beeeeeeeeeemerrrrrrrrrs</whinyvoice> on the freeway last night, and was toying with one for about fifty miles.. let him get ahead, then blast by and slow down again so he could catch up. I won't list my top speed as it was unsafe, given that it only has H-rated tires at the moment. Surprisingly they didn't fall apart or explode or anything unpleasant.

Besideswhich, I couldn't have bought one of those POS for $3400. As far as I'm concerned, this thing's a rocket ride, and gas is the price of admission. Which I gladly will pay.

Also, given that it's an AWD, and the engine is one of only two four-cyl square-over (more torque than hp) engines EVER... it's definitely worth it. Oh, and the only other four-cyl square over is a Porsche H4. And this one is much higher performance. ^_^

Depot, tag edit? I'm guessing you mean the license plate... all the GSes were simply marked 'GS' in '90, whether they were a GS, GS-T, or GSX.

The big down side is that the 'rebuilt 5000 miles ago, still under warranty' engine is leaking, and I only have 200 miles left before it expires. Took it over and they fixed *a* problem, but I don't think it's the only leak. Which is irritating as all crap.
Also, just noticed that in addition to the rims being dented and screwed, the tires are pretty much bald. They've got the 'replace now, moron' bars showing between the treads, and maybe 2-3mm of tread left.

I'm thinking 19" Shogun rims, maybe 215s or 225s if I can wedge them in without body-mod, and either Eagle F1 GS-D3s, or BFGoodrich gforce T/A KDW-2s. They're both YR rated, but the F1s would last longer, and have a quieter ride. But the KDW-2s just look so damn cool.

And Gumby, take a picture of yours, don't just find a pic from a dealership website. As I said, the MIRAGE (v2.0L) could do it... at the moment though, I've swapped up to the GSX. The Mirage project will wait until I have another $4-5000 saved up, at which point I'd be happy to, Gumby. Even moreso if I manage to talk to the mechanic I met today and drop in a re-bored Eclipse 2.4L TT modded 4g63t. ^_^
(As for the reason behind the switch, the GSX is a lot more fun to drive, AWD, corners better, and is quite a bit more comfortable.. the Mirage will just be a drag demon, until I can afford the AWD swap for it.)

The Corvette ... brings back sad memories. I had 2 of them in the early 70's, a 61 with a hardtop and a 62 with a hardtop. Both had the old Wonder-Bar radios and a 396/425 shoehorned in. They had 60 series Mickey Thompsons skins on the rear, and it would burn rubber in all 4 gears.

I wrecked BOTH of them, and am damn lucky they didn't kill me.

Here is my old 99 Coupe. It had a Rockford 12" power 12, 2 Rockford 6x9 Punch, 2 Rockford 6.5" mids, 2 Rockford 6.5" seperates, 2 Rockford Power 400.4 amps, DVD/MP3, LCD monitors in the visors and a Sony MD headunit.

Performance upgrades were Vortex Rammer cold air box, MAF sensor upgrade, throttle body bypass, Stage II computer reprogram, Corsa X-Pipe and a Corsa exhaust with classic chrome tips. ~ 410 HP/425 FPT.

Usually a cred pic involves putting a can of soda or soup on the car in various locations. But meh, it's not a car forum. ^_^

And yeah, nice sound system. After the wheels, suspension, and some minor power mods, I'm probably going to put in a full system... I'm still spoiled by the Mirage. Stereo 14" R-F Punch subs in a sealed box in the back, a pair of 6x9" four-ways on the hatch shelf, and 4" DBQuarts in the console. Subs were underdriven by a Punch75 amp, but still could shake the car; the speakers were rated for 500W @ 4ohm each, and they'd have been lucky to get a quarter of that. The rest were driven by the AIWA X504MP head, with 56x4 RMS. Sadly, my little sister blew the four-ways; still have as of yet to replace them, if I do at all.

May end up buying the speakers first and building my own box (caulk and carpet, with a header for each speaker... stereo subs are GREAT) and then getting the wiring put in after. The only problem is, with how small the Eclipse trunk is (still bigger than the Mirage) either I only can go with 10" subs, or I have to lose the spare tire. :b And I like having a spare tire for once, honestly.

In any case, I'm going to be saving up for the new tires/rims for a while, as the set I'm looking at will run $1200 without tax, which is a pain. Then add on some Brembo slotted rotors to stop the beasties, with GreenStuff pads, and that'll be at least another $500 in parts alone. So just figuring that, and shipping on it all, will bring it up to around 2K. Figure another thousand to do the stereo up right (2-channel amp for the subs, four-channel to handle the in-cabin, another AIWA X504MP if I can find one, and a 12-disc CD/MP3 changer, plus tack on a pair of tweeters in the back for added clarity and definition, plus install fees), and it'll be pretty styling as a daily driver. Drop another 1500 when I have it into getting the balance shafts eliminated, A/C recharged, a Big 20G turbo swap, upgraded fuel pump, and it'll be truly competative... likely running 11s or 10s. Another 800 to port and polish as well as swap out the 450cc injectors for 550cc, and a VPC to make them work right. It'd be double that to do it right with a replacement programmable ECU. Drop another 600 on a custom mandrel-bent exhaust with a SuperTrapp muffler and a bolt-on test pipe for 'off roading'.

By that point it'd be hitting 10s pretty simply, still with the stock tranny. It'll likely have something blow by the time it gets to 9s, so take care of it now for about 2K. Start thinking about carbon fiber, as well as a roll cage for reinforcement rather than the strut tower bar it has. Racing seats and a five or six-point harness become a must. There's no room in the back for anyone but a small child anyway.

Past that... well, re-boring the engine, or swapping it again for a 2.4L TT would be an option, or possibly go to a superturbo or a staged turbo set.
Visual upgrades, delete the pop-up headlights and seal them, use the reduced aperture (comparatively) on the front to install angel eyes with a PROPER HID setup (not the crap kits that blind other drivers). Again, carbon fiber is an option, as I have a buddy who'll mold it for me at cost. Keep the spoiler, or redesign one (I've had an idea in mind for a while, but it'd catch eyes so well that I'd need to install a 'dispense speeding ticket' button in the dash, even with a white and black car); consider a bodykit (the only one that looks decent IMO is the 'Drift' kit for the 1G Eclipse), which would also contribute to ground effect. And speaking of ground effect, underglow. Overdone, but it still has its place.

Now, as always, the question is where to get the money to do it all. :b

Ooo... Talesin you finally got the GS turbo. Nice one by the way. Am I to assume you live in California then? (Nice MS Paint edit of the plate.) Going for a bored out 2.4TT 4g63t would be a wonderful idea nothing like a little extra displacement for a few more horsies.

Gumby's little corvette, that is a pretty car and I'm sure its fairly decent for a daily driver but someone of us prefer to go fast and look good. I do have a thing for Corvettes, albiet I prefer the Viper more personally. Can't quite compare to the sound of a V10. (Check page 2 or 3 for my little 4 banger that loves to race vettes/vipers/low-end ferrais) :-)

Bronco... one my old ex's had a bronco sadly it wasn't in as nice of a condition as yours appears to be depot. It had many, many rust spots and etc.

I have never actually owned a boat my father does have one, I forget what is called I know its a twenty-one feet long, but sadly I am not a boat fanatic and so have no real idea as to what it consists of. If I ever speak with him again, I shall ask.

I love the '69 Camaro, those were very nice cars, I am kinda partial to the TransAm because of the large firebird that they put on the hood. Yes, I know they are exactly the same car.

I love the '69 Camaro, those were very nice cars, I am kinda partial to the TransAm because of the large firebird that they put on the hood. Yes, I know they are exactly the same car.

Yeah I had the Bronco for 13-1/2 years (ordered it from the factory brand new) and it was in jam up shape when I unloaded it.

Hope you and your dad aren't estranged (as my daughter and I are). Keep in touch with him.

The Camaro takes a trophy at nearly every show he goes to. He used to drive it to them, but now he trailers it.

My 99 was better but it was a coupe. I just got this one 3 months ago so I haven't worked on the ICE yet.

    ooh, nice!

I personally don't like the style of all these "performance cars", as I find them ugly. And it makes me think that you speak like the people in NFSU2. Which, believe me, is not a good thing. Nothing against you though Talesin

'Vettes however, i like except the fuel consumption :/
