so I'm A) not a car guy and B) poor, but I need a new car. my '95 Nissan w/ 160k miles is finally kicking the bucket. I've always bought used cars before, but at this point I'm kinda sick of inheriting other people's problems, so I'm thinking about leasing a cheap new car - under like $15k - so the payments are just like $200/month. Any of you car guys have any suggestions? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

    Suggestion:

    Don't lease a new car.

Just get a LESS used car than before, for under 15k.

yeah, a lot of people have been advising me against leasing. I was thinking it might be nice because by the time it was up I might be able to afford a real car, but then it sucks to pay for something for 2 or 3 years and then have to just give it back. I'll probably try to scrounge up a down payment and buy after all. maybe a Hyundai Accent or something.

    Well worth the $350 i paid for it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

So glad that pocket bikes aren't legal to ride on the street/sidewalk out here any more. Damned things were getting annoying, and with how low they are, the riders were getting turned to chutney by cars that physically couldn't see the riders.

    lol Talesin. Is it the pocket bike rider's fault or the H3 driver's fault? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

so as of this weekend.. I'm buying another evo. The thought of not having one breaks my heart <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> And I found a real good one..

I wonder if I'll ever NOT own one? :/

    What's easy about it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Along the way I'll be rebuilding the engine.. getting a shepherd racing tranny/tcase.. so it'll be as much of a ground up AWD 4G as those OG DSMs out there <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> It's too damn late either way, I've fallen in love with the platform <3

    <a href="http://www.brookstuned.com/ken_1017.wmv" target="_blank">Speaking of which.</a> <DSM accidentally breaks 1000hp by boosting 54PSI instead of 41.

after much debating, I just bought one of these boxes:

    <img src="http://www.dragtimes.com/images/5595-2004-Scion-xB.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

2008 Scion XB. seems awesome for a poor young person who knows nothing about cars. lots of features and space for the price.

The coupes are way better and can't be drop kicked over haha.

    Anyways, congrats.

On other new, we got the bottom/side timing chain guide out of my engine so it's SOOOO much quieter. It's now longer a "leaky noisy ka," but a "leaky ka."

Somehow in the process of doing so, I believe we damaged my water pump. -.-
Oh well, if it's just that, i'm happy that's cheap and I might get new steel lines to replace along with it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

You betcha. 1500 pounds of good gas mileage. I can bounce on the rear bumper and almost get the rear tires off the ground <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

also lol @ I CAN SEE FOREVER. I cant wait till i get some things fixed with the festiva, gonna put some massive illegal-street-use off road lights on it XD Can you say '15 million candle light power?' <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I bought a Festiva new in 1990 and used it to commute 135 miles round trip daily, since my '89 Bronco got maybe 12.5mpg on the highway... the Festiva averaged close to 45mpg and was fun to drive!

The little crapbox was fun as hell to drive. One had to be very careful when slamming the door, if you didn't you'd dent the sheetmetal it was so thin. I'm talking thin-as-a-cokecan thin. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

Nah, I give a lot of respect to semi-truck drivers. If I see they are having problems merging or what not, I totally slow down and let them in or help them get onto the street.

And wooo, my late night drift session with a friend on Weds was fun. Stock KA beating a Sr20 in drift, but I'm sure my 17's helped more than his 15's.

I think I might of bent or tweaked something in the back-left brakes though, ebrake brakes. Never used the ebrake for a slide though, but eh, i'll fix it later. Haven't noticed any changes in car braking performance..... yet =x lol

Just back from doing the check-pinkslip swap tonight.

    Things to deal with:
    - 100% gutted, gotta fab seat brackets for mah seats~
    - very.. minimalist dash. I can deal with it.. it's starting to grow on me.
    <a href="http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dashzc4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/4563/dashzc4.th.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>
    - no air
    - no windows
    - weatherstripping
    - race spec roll cage (open door, climb through cage).. my girlfriend says she's cool with it. We'll see.
    - ABSOLUTELY NO MUFFLER. Headers go to baffled pipe, to x pipe, to two glasspacks. And then immediately cut off right behind the center of the car. MF is LOUD. I will get ticketed every 5 mins if I don't muffle the car... you could probably hear the idle from 10 blocks away. But the 22gal race cell takes up all the room... so IDKWTF I'm going to do about the muffler thing..
    - gotta go over the SWEET PRIMER PAINTJOB in satin black.. won't cost more than a couple hundo at a body place. Anybody can spray satin black.
    - need to reconstruct the suspension and brakes, they were sold off quick when the guy thought he was gonna part out the car.

Things that are AWESOME and why I bought the car:
    - Invincible drivetrain (TKO 600 trans, custom U joints and driveshaft, quaife rear diff)
    - LOL RETARDED BUILT SBC in 2500lb CAR (awesome build.. 10k tied up in the motor, easy. needless to say I am getting a steeeeheeheheeeal)
    <a href="http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=78075637hm0.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/3100/78075637hm0.th.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>

My job is basically to do some finishing touches here and there and make the car... livable. Shouldn't be too hard. If I don't kill myself first, this car is going to end up real nice.

Check out the ghetto shifter: it was too far forward. He cut it, welded a... spacer-dealie.. and viola. Lovin it.
    <a href="http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11rn3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/9859/11rn3.th.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>
