    My roommate does.

    He does all kinds of tricks, and has crashed, and has sustained major injuries in the past.

    He's not a great role model for motorcycle safety, I guess.

    i guess i am riding a bike for convenience to travel around... not playing life <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

    but i know that its a lot easier to suffer a major injury when having an accident if u r riding a bike than driving a car. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

    Still driving the LS400 pictured in the first post, which was born-on December 18th 1998 (same birthday as my daddy). It's fast approaching 60k miles and will go in for a 60k service shortly.

    On that note - a reputable automotive service center is doing it, for nearly $600 less than the dealership. Don't use dealerships for ANYthing unless it's warranty work.

    A motorcycle offers absolutely no protection in a crash, and an auto has much more weight and bulk.

    If the two collide, do the math.... ... .. . <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" />

    do yourself a favor and dont learn. because they are so addictingly fun. problem being that it is very dangerous in a crash you have little to no protection. i hate myself for learning how to ride. i cant possible enjoy a car anymore. all i want is a super fast motorcycle.

    for example
    <img src="http://www.bikercafe.co.uk/images/stories/ducati_desmosedici_rr_frr.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

    this is basicly equal to a f1 car minus the seatbelt and roll protection

    Dammit Chrono, you were up on the crest? And you didn't come visit everyone up red box canyon? :b Hell, didn't even know you were in SoCal until I saw that snap of the turnouts to the left on the crest downhill. :b

    On another note, the DSM is up again. I'm considering selling it at this point before it dies again. So close to the goal though... just running out of money faster than I can get the mods into the car. :b

    Also, the first couple of people to post tricycles, tanks, pairs of shoes and so on were funny. It's dead now. Removing any posts involving dream-cars, RC cars, video game cars, and so on, to help clean up the thread a little.

    My fully restored 1950 Schwinn Black Phantom:

    <img src="http://www.ugleague.org/img/offsite/DSCN0709.JPG" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

    My daddy bought this new not long after returning from WWII. It's born-on date is 09/11/50. I completely stripped it to the bare frame, and installed all new stainless steel spokes, fenders, etc. It has a locking fork and knee-action front suspension.

    Meh, most Civic drivers I've see are wab-mobiles, but yours is okay. If you actually do want to work on it, I suggest some new rims and lower it a bit and you'll be fine.

    I forgot the last pic I put up of my car, but lemme find.

    Car is almost paid off, can't wait. Two to three months I'll be able to start fixing some kinks and modding. Need coilovers, extra rims and tires for Justdrift.com and other drift events.

    Not really, Droggog. You're currently in the 'Honduh kid' realm. You don't get to be a ricer without adding a crapload of stickers, jumping on the drift bandwagon, cutting your springs, putting in a gigantic tach, or welding on a giant muffler tip and insisting that it gives you 20 more horsepower. Or just welding the tip on period.

    Paranoia, should come up to the LA area. Can hit some of the fun roads around here.
  • Paranoia2MBParanoia2MB Join Date: 2002-11-09 Member: 7832Members
    By LA Roads, do you mean streets or like actual canyon roads? lol. Probably be interesting chillin with the Talesin though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    Ick, I hate cut springs, my front springs are cut ONLY BECAUSE the previous owner was an idiot and cut the front ones. (Tokico blues all around) I'm currently saving up for some coilovers (Stances). I do have one sticker on my car though, but it's for my friend's shop who I go to. Most of my friends have it too to help out his shop a bit.

    Probably the one thing I shouldn't do that I do is practice in an open parking lot, because currently I want to pay off my car first before I actually hit up events and what not. Willow Springs, Horse Theif Mile, and the Balcony for example. I've been into drift for a couple of years so yeah. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

    Payments done in a month, then I'm getting some cheapo tires/rims for events and I start working on the car! ^.^ <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fade.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::fade::" border="0" alt="fade.gif" />

    GSX is set up for the canyons, man. Not as well as I might like, but I don't have bottomless pockets either. I've got my eye on a set of Megan coilovers to replace the B+G spring/KYB AGX setup I'm stuck with for now. Heard good stuff about how they handle, and have a contact with them so might be able to swing a discount.

    Have to get the brakes fixed first though; they're starting to get dangerous at this point, and new rotors are going to kill my wallet for a little bit, as I refuse to go with El Cheapo (read: Valuecraft) parts. Have seen a few of those crack outright from overheating, and one EK9 with junk drilled rotors had one literally explode... looked like a bomb went off under that corner of his car.

    I've got a pair of shop stickers on my car, that I still have to remove.. are for a shop I used to recommend all my friends to, until it started to seem like they were half-assing the repairs, even on parts I specifically told them to use Mitsu OEM when replacing. When the engine they rebuilt ended up blowing a cylinder and cracking it in three places, that was it for me. Got it done up right at RRE, and they told me that he'd used knockoff parts everywhere.. the knock sensor, timing belt tensioner, all the important parts. Hell, I'd handed him an OEM knock sensor. No idea where <b>that</b> went.
    That and my exhaust could be considered rice, but nothing flows better than 3" SS with a grand total of two bends, including the DP.

    Car up to passing tech at Willow? Got your helmet? The rentals smell funny.

    As for tires, head up here. Most of the drift kids where we're going scavenge good but 'dead' tires from a few tire shops in the area, and mount them on spare rims, carry a couple extra rear pairs when they go up in case they catch a rock or blow one out. Could probably point you in the right direction, or drag you along if they're going on a run to grab more. Won't pass for Willow tech, but they've got plenty of life left for practicing power-overs, clutchpop and flicking.
    Should be interesting if the regulars show up.

    I'm actually heading down around Knott's tonight for a party. PM me your cell, and I'll give you a buzz if I end up cutting out early, can head up. Do be aware that it's not exactly going to be an early night, if you have an aversion to seeing dawn. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

    Let me get some new tires and upgrade my breaks and we can hit up GMR! Too bad I don't know exactly where it's at.

    hahah... haven't been there, but I heard from my friend that its' fun, butyou still have to watch yourself. He's see too many cocky people go over or flip. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" />

    And if you do have hookups with KYB, lmk. I'd like a set of front springs and maybe even shocks. I need some new tension rods, balljoints, tension rod ends, all that crap. Eventually a nismo power brace, I need all new front suspension.

    Eventually though, best upgrade will be a LSD. No more open diff, throw my ###### out the window if not careful. hahah

    I was going to get some new knock sensors, but I don't know how to replace them.
  • TalesinTalesin Our own little well of hate Join Date: 2002-11-08 Member: 7710NS1 Playtester, Forum Moderators
    No, no... hookup with Megan. KYBs are cheap.
    Generally knock sensors just screw into the intake manifold or side of the block, and plug in. Crescent or box-end wrench, unscrew the old one, unplug from the harness, plug the new one in. Though you really shouldn't have a knock sensor, if memory serves... don't think I've heard of an NA engine that really uses one.

    GMR's where I had my window smashed in and the car ransacked when I had to get a lift home to pick up a spare part. I don't go there any more. The car has a weird habit of floating the rights on that road, and the police presence is pretty scattershot up there... three weeks ago, fifteen cars or so were impounded right at the bottom. There are gangbangers, rednecks and other crap up there. So yeah, I don't go there any more... the ride sucks anyway, even if it does have one or two fun turns on the downhill. You also get a lot of nighttime traffic through there, for some reason.

    And don't worry about tires and brakes for now. Most of the roads I have in mind, you're going to have to run for a few weeks or a month to really take them at any decent speed safely. Still fun to mess around on, and a really nice drive. Want to bring a jacket and hat though, and maybe gloves and a scarf.. gets pretty cold.
  • Paranoia2MBParanoia2MB Join Date: 2002-11-09 Member: 7832Members
    I have a nice black scarf and i'll borrow my gf's driving gloves.. (leapord color and spots! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />)

    If I even go up to GMR. I'll keep that in mind. I'm always super paranoid *hence the name lawl key key... *rolls eyes** about my car. I did something to make it more secure and i've been sleeping better, but I must always garage my car. Sometimes I have a hard time sleeping at my gf's house because my car isn't garaged.. Though she is in somewhat of a nice area and have a few police neighboors, but still.

    Next days off are Weds and Fri, maybe we can kick it then.

    We can shake hands now, also the Honda Civic Coupe is probably the best one you could buy, together with the Prelude 92-96 (looks)

    Just PULEASE don't put big stickers on it or a big spoiler. And a big giant muffler on it (ACK!) or I will personally come over there and steal your cookies!!!

    btw mines red (and also posted here somewhere) and has small subtle stickers on the door of what's under the hood. I only detest them giant stickers all over the car (or just one even) too make it "look <!--coloro:#333333--><span style="color:#333333"><!--/coloro-->*cough cheap cough*<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> cool"

    *Shake hands*

    Hehe. I'm not into big stickers, poorly designed bodykits, or too extravagant stuff. Too old for that (29). I'm gonna keep it somewhat sober, don't worry. You won't have my cookies! The only thing that i <i>may</i> change is the rims for something like this:

    <img src="http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/asa/swap/asa_ar1_blk_ci3_l.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

    The car is black so semi-black rims = win! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> Probably in 17" if there's enough space, if not well, in 16" then. Under the hood it's a 1.5Lsi (102hps stock), but she's probably "packing" a <i>little</i> bit more since there's a K&N air intake and seems to have custom injectors (but i've no idea what it is... it may be just crappy/cheap ones)... Anyway she's really a charm to drive, and make a really pleasant noise as it is, so no need for a fake/custom/lame giant muffler.

    I found your post btw, but the pic seems to be down or something, i only see a "IPB image" tag.
