If it doesnt why is it not showing up under third party games

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\chip_trekie@msn.com\half-life

and the NS folder should be there

That would be the same directory structure, even if you dont have HL2.

Find your steam folder (default is under C:\Program Files\Valve)

NS should be placed in this directory in steam:

Steam\SteamApps\<account name>\half-life

This is where the ns folder should be placed.

Note: <account name>, this depends on what your account name is (not necessarily chip_trekie <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
