Something To Think About

I was reading through the NSarmslab server rules and found something interesting.

Rule 12 (Regarding Admins): All players on the server(s) must be respectful of admins at all times and respect their wishes. In return, admins will also be respectful of all players and help make their game as enjoyable as possible. Admins are here for you and to insure an enjoyable environment. If you are having any problems, please contact an admin.

Now this rule makes a lot of sense to me. However, I see a lot of server communities post the first part about "Respecting Admins", however the neglect the second part about admins being RESEPECTful to the players.

I've noticed something while pubbing on a variety of servers. Most of the servers that have only the first part of the respect rule have more of a problem with players being disrespectful, then the Armslab servers. Thats not to say the armslab servers are completely problem free, but for the most part, there aren't that many problems as I have seen on servers with people "respecting admins" without receiving any back.

Has anyone noticed this as well?

    nsarmslab has (apparently) realised that the admin-player relationship is a two way street. it seems other servers have not understood that yet, thats why admin abuse and disrespectfulness towards anyone but other admins and server "regs" is highly common.

    Yeah a lot of servers use that "good ole boy" system of determining who gets respect. If you brown nose a lot, they will let you in to their circle or even give you a rusty sherrif's badge (admin access).

    I find it quite amusing sometimes

    ArmsLab is the few (aka 1 out of the 2) servers I EVER play on now.

    [CTS] Servers are good too. The admins are (mostly) nice.

    Bry's admins are starting to get their acts together now- sudden admin map changes mid-round are less common.

    One UK server to stay away from is -=CBX=- ... After seeing my marine team getting abuse (and random kicks) from one admin, I reported it on their IRC channel; the jist of the response being "SUYF"

    It's very tireing when you go to a server only to have the "admin" who is obviously the best in the game or he wouldn't have admin controls kick/slap/slay you because you arn't playing the game to their likeing. (Aka, don't try winning against abuseive admins.)

    It's good to know there are some servers with decenty out there.

    Well, this topic can lead nowhere good. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    If you're not welcome, don't go there, I believe. There are plenty of random servers that you can pub around on. Alternatively, create your own game (if you're willing to wait for it to fill up <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

    Actually this conversation can go some where. I want to see other evidence of the behavior of people who are on servers that require the admins to be respectful, not just the players.

    I want to see the player's behavior on that server compared to a server where its common for admin's to abuse the rusty sherrif's badge.

    This thread is about server rules, in conjunction with how effective they are. I want to know what others think.

    If you are going to post a server, please post their "respect" rule as well.

    Thanks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Sorry, FW, but this is in effect yet another iteration of the 'x's server sucks' routine, which is so long dead that it doesn't even smell anymore.
