Cs:s New Cpl Showcase, Ns Worries?

If you haven't heard by now CS 1.6 has been pulled from CPL and from CAL shortly. One of the main reasons was because they were lossing sponsors due to the fact that it was hard to woo them with a 6 year old game. They chose CS:S because it was the next CS game and had the new flashy HL2 graphics. This makes me a little worried about the CAL and CPL standings of NS. Not to say that I'm comparing the two graphically. I would assume that NS2 is a long ways off. Could this bad news for the professional NS leagues?

    Perheps............

    I feel like making some fanboy comments of NS:S but I know the mods are already trying hard enough with Flayra on the current NS.

    What NS need is perheps more advertising.

    But I can always imagine NS:S......shadows......better graphics.......realistic physics........more weapons.........better looking aliens, humans and structures with my polygons.............ahhhhhh <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    How can you even think of making NS a CPL game with only about 18 clans at the moment in CAL? CS:S was the natural choice seeing as it is the port of the most popular game in the world.

    NS has potential, but you are a little too hopeful.

    They made painkiller a CPL game when it only has around 20 people playing online at once. But I doubt NS will ever become a CPL game because a:still in a horrible beta state, and b:not managed by a real company(that actually pays people to make the game).

    Professional leagues? I doubt anyone's ever made a dollar playing NS.

    Even considering a CPL stance toward NS is at this moment useless, as the
    community isn't even close to being big enough for such a move. Having 9 people
    show up for the NS BYOC at the summer 2004 CPL pretty much says it all.

    CPL is no longer a player driven event, it's an advertising driven event. Featured games are always going to be the ones that are the best for showing off nvidia/ati/intel/amd's (whoever the head sponsor is) technology,

    This is a special case, since CS is the basis of a multimilliondollar marketing campaign, with the CPL the centerpiece of it. NS doesn't have anything of that sort, and doesn't have a CPL leage either. If we make NS:S, and end up with official support, you MIGHT see somthing like that, but I think the current status of the mod denies it.

    Yeah the showing was pretty lame at cpl considering I was there.
