As of this instant, NemesisZero is in the midst of opening an entire forum dedicated to scripting, and the questions within. I will be moderating it, as well as 2 others who have the same feelings on the subject as I do. The main idea of that forum will be to educate those who want to learn, without feeling obligated to ask their pub admin, because he's opinions are harsh, unknowledgable, and usually biased.
I hope this forum opens soon... I've already written the first two stickies, including "what is a script".

Just a quick last post until monday, Crisano, Voogru servers don't count. For anything. At all. You can't even use them as an example of how much the NS community has declined since it has always been that bad. Voogru servers aren't NS, even though they technically are using the same game. They're a bunch of people who goof around and like to run around big maps jerking off thinking it's NS. Considering them members of this community is laughable. Good job sending 75% of them packing for home though, I couldn't help smiling at that.
Oh yeah, and Nem, you cannot have that scripting forum up quick enough. PLEASE hurry with all due speed.

Natural Selection was expanding as it already was (2.01). Then, with the release of Beta 3, the team introduced an entirely new game type, Combat. The game of Combat almost instantly took over the Classic mode, and attracting many newcomers to the Natural Selection universe.
I myself have to admit, it can be fun at times... <i>Can.</i> The fact of the matter is that battles aren't as long, as "epic" as before, but most importantly - <b>not as fun</b>. It's fun to be able to come back from a huge loss, and equally as thrilling. The battles in Combat have become more and more dull.
This is why I continue to play a majority of Classic games. I have to admit though, when I'm tired of playing against equally and higher skilled players than myself, I enjoy a quick game or two of Combat, where I can instantly dominate the entire other team with my knife. I remember, before Combat, I was going to teach a couple of my friends how to play Natural Selection. Yeah, before Combat, you actually had to learn strategies and techniques instead of using your Counter-Strike aquired skills to play Natural Selection.
So, in closing, I just have this to say. I'm a "Classic Activist," a person who likes Classic and hates Combat. I'm sure there's a few of my type on the forums, and a lot of "Combat Activists," who roam the forums trying to get their opinion the one that the people choose. I type this knowing that nothing will get changed, I just want someone to hear what I think. That's what's so great about forums, you can tell other people your thoughts and feelings. Its funny when I shoot my pistol. Im pretty sure I can unload all 10 rounds in less than a second or maybe just above. And I get called a pistol scripter all the time. Even though I only onced used a pistol script and didn't like it really at all I thought it shot too slow :/

I was point out that he was saying that it was ok to script if you are playing to win.
With that same argument, some people can say that cheating is ok. It comes down to what people feel is appropriate.
It's a matter of perspective. We lowly "pubbers" view it one way and "clanners" view it another.
Stop picking on Guardian just because he's right. Saying it's ok to use any legal advantage to win is exactly the same as saying that it's ok to use illegal advantages to win. The two arguements are one and the same, so stop your pointless bickering.
Sorry, but not all of the pubbers see scripting as evil cheating. I've never been in a clan, but I know that scripts are not a substiute for skill.(With the posible expection of a 3jump script, because when you factor in lag and FPS, skill might not matter) I don't use any scripts. Do I think their evil and I must not touch them? No, I see no need for them. Scripts HELP pubbers. It levels the playing field a bit. Guy can't do X, he starts using a script to help him. Through the script he learns more about the thing he can't do, and eventully he'll be able to do it without the script(with some practice) Guy who can do X without the script will do X better then the guy using the X script.

One thing ur wrong about
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ABLE TO AIM, SHOOT, or MOVE TO WIN....
ALL YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO DO IS TAKE DOWN A HIVE OR CC....
Some scripts do make and brake games, though not nearly so much has hacks do. In co I've played in many games where a single decent player using scripts has slaughtered half our team, alowing their team to then own our CC while we sit around for 3 minutes waiting for a respawn. Had they not used the scripts then they wouldnt have been able to do it, but they did and as such were able to pull off inhumanly quick commands. Its just not fun when you're at full health, its 30 seconds into a round on a ns map, and you get instagibbed by a clip of bullets that took 1 click and a few miliseconds to shoot. I'm fine with many scripts, but there are a couple that just take the fun away from everyone not using them. If the server admin is fine with it then whatever, its their server. But just out of <i>common courtesy</i> if the other team arent using scripts, dont use them your self as they give you an edge they dont have.

What kind of scripts could they possibly have used? For marines, no script in the world can help them play better because marine is all about knowing where and how to move and aiming well.
For aliens, its true that there are many many types of scripts that people think improve skills. But they DO NOT turn a mediocre or even above average player into a really really good player. When I join a combat pub, I know I am able to easily dominate because honestly, most people don't know how to aim. Put me up against good players and it'll be an even game. But I don't need scripts to improve my game, and neither will scripts even help my game as drastically as you think it will. I'm sure many other good players will agree with me on this too. Okay you obviously have NO IDEA WHAT SCRIPTS DO. What you just described is a hack, not a script, as it alters the gameplay. There's definitely a difference.
I was point out that he was saying that it was ok to script if you are playing to win.
With that same argument, some people can say that cheating is ok. It comes down to what people feel is appropriate.
It's a matter of perspective. We lowly "pubbers" view it one way and "clanners" view it another.
I don't use any scripts.
Except one is legal and one is illegal... how is it exactly the same? And your matter-of-fact tone is funny, because basically you're telling us all to shut up because you are 100% right so it's pointless to argue about this anymore. There is obviously a line that cannot be crossed, and no scripts actually cross that line. No script even comes close to crossing that game-breaking line, because a script is just a bunch of console commands strung together. Hacks and exploits on the other hand completely break the game, they are not comparable.
Scripts don't aim for you, scripts don't move for you, scripts don't shoot for you. Those three things right there are the only three I need to beat YOU with.
3jump, pistol, and duckjumping (the only three scripts I use), are an ease for me when I'm playing the game to win. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'm not challenging you or saying that I'm better than you. I don't play NS competitively, and I'm not interested in proving that you're better than me. I'll just admit it right now. You are better than me at NS. It doesn't change my opinion.
I'm just saying that not having to worry about your leap-bite or triple jump leaves you to focus on other things, like aiming and moving.
Your argument that playing competitively makes scripting ok is like me saying that aim-bots are ok as well. If you want to WIN, then cheating is OK.
Now please don't try to quote me as saying that Scripting is cheating, but the comparison you gave me lets me say just about anything is ok if you're playing to win.
If that's the reason that you use scripting, then that's fine. It's your reason, but it still looks as if you're saying that you can't WIN without scripting. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
I dont care either way
One thing ur wrong about
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ABLE TO AIM, SHOOT, or MOVE TO WIN....
ALL YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO DO IS TAKE DOWN A HIVE OR CC....
U NEVER EVEN HAVE TO KILL A SINGLE OTHER PERSON

Hey, look.
There's a huge misconception that the reason those good ns players are able to do so well is because of scripts. PLEASE get rid of that misconception in your head because it is definitely not true.

Okay you obviously have NO IDEA WHAT SCRIPTS DO. What you just described is a hack, not a script, as it alters the gameplay. No script in the world can do this, because <b>SCRIPTS ARE MERELY A BUNCH OF CONSOLE COMMANDS STRUNG TOGETHER</b>. Please, I ask for all the pubbers who aren't educated on scripting to get a freaking clue.
<b>There is absolutely no way to tell whether a good player is using a script or not, except for maybe the pistol script. That's how little scripts affect the game.</b>
