<div class="IPBDescription">It wasn't always this way....</div> So I moved from college to a house. My connection changed from a T3 to cable. My cable gets about 2.4 Mb according to DSL reports. I'm having no problems with other games.
Anyway, I get good pings (<50), but when there are a lot of players, my ping goes in the 300's (slideshow). I didn't used to have any problems(used to play in games of 30 with no problems), and all I did was change connections. I can't imagine it is my system, as I didn't used to have problems, but here are my specs:
Athlon XP 2600+
GF4 TI4200 128
512 PC2200 DDR
Screen refresh locked to 85Hz
Playing in OpenGL at 1028 res

in: C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\emailaddress\half-life\ns
there should be a file called config.cfg.
The three variables that you should check are these three:
rate
cl_cmdrate
cl_updaterate
Try setting rate to 10000, cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate to 60.
Those aren't ideal settings, but they should fix all your connection problems.

Yes do exactly as he said and if this doesn't work, PM me with further detail of all your set rates ect and I'll help you from there.

i thought he did put his connection. maybe check for programs running in the background???
I remember when I had a virus keylogger installed onto my computer and it made my games lag like hell including NS. I suggest downloading a virus scan and another free scanner called spybot or Ad-Aware. Again, the lagging on my end was from spyway and viruses, you could always try that.
